TRACK AND FIELDTwo of our former students, Dane Bird-Smithand Caitlin Sargent, were members of the AustralianTeam (of 36) who competed at theWorld Junior Athletics event in Moncton, Canadafrom 20th - 25th July.Results:-Dane Bird-Smith - 5th in the 10 Kilometre walkreducing PB by 2 minutes.Caitlin Sargent - semi finalist in the 100 metressprint (best time 11.77 seconds), anchoredthe 4 x 100 metre relay team to 7th place in thefinal.Fabulous efforts from the committed pair.Bronwyn LucasAthletics CoachYEAR 8 NETBALL GALA DAYOn a breezy winter’s day, a group of Year 8<strong>Indooroopilly</strong> girls set off to Centenary <strong>High</strong><strong>School</strong> to compete in Gala Day’s netball competition.There was shooting and intercepts,screaming and cheering and both the Year 8and Year 9 teams made <strong>Indooroopilly</strong> proud!Although we didn’t finish on top, we were stillvery pleased with our achievements. It was agreat day and we look forward to returning nextyear to hopefully win the title!VICKY WILSON CUPOn Monday 2 nd August, <strong>Indooroopilly</strong> girl’snetball team made the short walk over to StPeters to participate in the Vicky Wilson Cup.Although we hadn’t played or trained asmuch as we would have liked, we were allvery excited to have a fun day of netball; andthat it certainly was.After a strong start against Corinda, we wenton to a convincing victory of 20 against Stretton.With any problems quickly solved, wecontinued our winning streak, beating bothForest Lake <strong>State</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> and Centenaryin extremely competitive games. Althoughwe were no match for favourites St Peters,we were commended for scoring the mostgoals against them, placing us second in ourpool and into the semi-finals. We put up agood fight, but unfortunately had a close lossagainst St Peter Claver, in the semi-finals.All the girls played extremely well, and wewould like to thank Linda Jerrard for umpiringall our games, as well as Miss Vale forcoaching the side.
