After a semester of newexperiences, you might be looking forward toreturning home for an extended period, but maynot be anxious about returning to the structuredenvironment of parents and curfews. Aftereverything you have been through in your firstsemester, some of the anxiety may be about goinghome and seeing everyone who you knew beforeyou went to college. You may have changed andgrown, but wonder if those changes will beaccepted. You may be looking forward to seeing oldfriends and sad to be leaving new friends.Like every other month, there are many thingscompeting for your time. You must balance yourpreparations for final exams and papers withseasonal parties, religious observances, and serviceprojects intended to assist the needy during theholiday season. You may also want to spend asmuch time as possible with friends or a newsignificant other, since the impending break maycause a lengthy separation.December represents the time of the year when youwill be going home for the break and with thatcomes rest and reflection of the fall semester inorder to prepare for a successful spring semester.UCF Facts: Notable athletics alumni include women’ssoccer legend Michelle Akers, 2001 Pro Bowlquarterback Daunte Culpepper and 2001PGA Tour Byron Nelson Classic winnerRobert Damron. The film “The Blair Witch Project” waswritten, directed and produced by five UCFgraduates. Healthy ChoicesYou need to make academic decisions in terms offall classes and whether or not you plan to attendsummer school. Midterm exams are also starting atthis time. You need to determine the process forrenewing your scholarships and other types offinancial aid. Also, this is the time to start considering where youwill live in the fall and with whom. It is very likelythat you need to find off-campus housing, so do notwait until the last minute to find a place that bestfits your needs and budget.March is a very exciting time overall. Schoolactivities and beach weather are at their peaks.Remember to consider the long-term effects ofyour decisions.UCF Facts: While grades are important to job recruiters, soare leadership skills and experience. The bestway to acquire these skills and the experience isto become involved in student clubs andorganizations.Tyler Fisher was UCF’s first Rhodes Scholar.Fisher is one of 32 Americans who have beenselected to receive this prestigious scholarship. The Student Union hosts over 15,000 events ayear in 25 meeting rooms.13 organizations completed 3,896 hours and655 individuals logged over 6,858 hours ofservice learning/volunteerism with VolunteerUCF (based on 2003-04 data).

March2 005Beginning of the Home StretchMarch includes spring break as well as midtermsand is also the home stretch into the final fullmonth of the semester and final exams. You likelyhave many concerns that surface in March, suchas financial aid filing deadlines, summer and fallregistration, and scholarship applicationdeadlines.Do not forget to submit all required financialaid forms on time. If you do not submit theright documents on time, it can greatlyimpede the certification process for aid to beawarded for the upcoming academic year.Contact your academic advisor prior toregistering for classes to ensure you are onthe right track.613Sun Mon Tue Wed Thur Fri SatDance Marathon,RWCHip Hop Week,MulticulturalStudent Center7141 FAFSA 234815Priority DateMeditationSession, R WCKnights of theRoundtable, SUWellnessWorkshops, RWCArts & SocialSciences CareerPanel, SUMeditationSession, RWCWellnessWorkshop s, RWCMASS GroupAdvising, SULatin RhythmSalsa Lesson, BYC9WellnessExpo ’05, RWCMajors Fair, SULatin RhythmSalsa Lesson, BYC16MeditationSession, RWCNutritionWorkshop, RWC10MeditationSession, RWCNutritionWorkshop, RWC171118WithdrawalDeadlineSwing KnightsSwing Lessons,EDUSwing KnightsSwing Lessons,EDU5Latin RhythmSalsa Lesson,Pegasus LandingDance Marathon,RWC1219Attend the various Major and Career Exposhosted on campus.* * * * * SPRING BREAK * * * * *NO Classes20212223242526MeditationSession, RWCWellnessWorkshops, R WCLatin RhythmSalsa Lesson, BYCWhich Career is theBest for You?
