The Governors term of office came toan end in May and while I am saddened that somewill step down I am encouraged that so many ofour current Governors are going to stand for reelection. This for me demonstrates that theGovernors feel they have a valuable role to play.Over the past few years our Governors haveachieved a great deal. They have worked with theBoard to develop the indicators by which they canbe sure that the Trust is continuing to focus onimproving the quality of the services we provide. They have had a particular impact on ensuring thatMemory services are provided across the fourboroughs of outer north east London and have hada role in developing the strategy for psychologicalservices across the Trust. The Governorsoverwhelmingly supported the Trust's move intoproviding community based physical healthservices as well mental health services recognisingthat mental and physical wellbeing are inextricablylinked and I would personally like to thank them allfor the way they have embraced the additionalchallenge this has involved.I am delighted that so many of our Governors arestanding for re-election and am encouraged someof our members have put themselves forward forelection. As well as retaining some experiencedGovernors, it is very important that we have newGovernors as they will bring fresh ideas. Please be sure that you cast your vote, if you arenot standing for election. It is important that thevoting process is supported by as many membersas possible. That way you can ensure that the rightperson represents you on the Council ofGovernors.Lastly, I am delighted to announce that thetransfer of NHS South West Essex CommunityServices to NELFT has now been completed and Ilook forward to working with staff and patients insouth west Essex in the year ahead.‘‘Join in our Trust Annual Fit for 2012 Sports Day, see page 72 MEMBERS’ NEWS The magazine for members of North East London NHS Foundation Trust

Mentalhealth service users said they were more than satisfiedwith the way the Trust provides services and care, including how it involves them in their care. The ratings came from the six-month Patient SatisfactionCommission for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) survey,co-ordinated by the Trust’s Practice ImprovementDirectorate. The survey asked patients, dischargedbetween July 1 and 31 December 2010, to report howsatisfied they were with the mental health treatment theyreceived, following their discharge from Acute Inpatientwards. The Trust was asked to achieve a target of a five percent improvement on scores from the Care QualityCommission (CQC) 2009 National Mental Health InpatientSurvey.Jane Pike, Performance Director for NELFT, said: “We arepleased to report the cumulative scores show that alltargets have not only been met but exceeded in all fourboroughs we provide mental health services.
