The <strong>Counselling</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> at <strong>Knock</strong> was establishedin 1988 and is located adjacent to the Chapel ofReconciliation within the grounds of the <strong>Shrine</strong>.We Provide• <strong>Counselling</strong> for Individuals and Couples• Group work, Men’s Groups.• <strong>Counselling</strong> for Young People• Anger Management Programmes• Clinical Supervision• Placement Opportunities for Counsellorsin Training<strong>Counselling</strong> is for any individual who wishes toattend to issues affecting emotional or mentalwell being. Examples of such issues include• Feelings of anxiety or depression• Low self esteem• Difficult personal relationships• Neglect or abuse during childhood• Loss and bereavement• Feelings of confusion and lack of direction in life• Sexual issuesWhat is <strong>Counselling</strong><strong>Counselling</strong> is a therapeutic process that occursbetween two or more people over an agreedperiod of time. The relationship betweenCounsellor and Client is central to this process.The Counsellor is responsible for providing acaring and confidential environment in whichthe Client may address their situation. TheCounsellor will accompany the Client as heexplores personal issues or difficulties andultimately develops resources to live in a morefulfilling way.StaffThe <strong>Counselling</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> is staffed by theDirector of <strong>Counselling</strong> and a team ofprofessional counsellors with a wide range ofexperience.The Drop-in Service• This service offers people an opportunityto discuss difficult or challenging lifeissues in a caring and confidentialenvironment.• The Drop-in is characterised by theavailability of drop-in single listening sessions.• The Drop-in is available to any personor persons over the age of eighteen• People attend the Drop-in to reflecton or discuss personal issues or concerns.This process of sharing ones thoughtsor feelings within a caring andconfidential environment can behealing and affirming.• Information regarding counselling andrelated services is available on request.
