Event Auction Book - Meals on Wheels of Stark and Wayne Counties

Howdy y’all!
We’re excited and honored to welcome you to Give Hunger the Boot,
our first annual fundraiser to benefit <strong>Meals</strong> On Wheels of Stark &
Wayne Counties and Shared Blessings. We invite you to relax, kick up
your heels, and have a rootin’, tootin’ good time as we join together to help
eliminate hunger in our community.
Tonight we honor three individuals who are the true “pioneers” of
<strong>Meals</strong> On Wheels - William Belden Jr., Stanley Cmich, and Jane Schirack.
It was their vision and leadership in 1973 that led to the creation of a meal
program that became <strong>Meals</strong> On Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties. Their
persistence and determination 40 years ago assured nutritionally at-risk
residents of our communities that they would not go hungry.
<strong>Meals</strong> On Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties delivers thousands of
meals each week to homebound individuals who are nutritionally at-risk.
Thanks to the hard work of dedicated staff and volunteers, more than 11
million meals have been served over the years. However, recent cutbacks
in government programs have affected the agency’s ability to function as
before. The proceeds from tonight’s fundraiser will ensure that this important
work will continue.
Many of the committee members who helped organize this event belong
to Shared Blessings, a Canton-area non-profit organization dedicated to
helping those who are less fortunate. In recognition of their help and on
their behalf, a portion of tonight’s proceeds will benefit the food programs
at Canton Calvary Mission, the Massillon Salvation Army, and Refuge
of Hope Ministries.
Your participation tonight will help us in our collective mission to “Give
Hunger the Boot” in Stark and Wayne counties.
