4 Chapter 1—Overview

2What'snew in ColorFlow1.1The Ink Optimizing Solution is a licensed feature that enables you toimprove print stability and to reduce ink consumption on offset presses. When this option is licensed and enabled, you can minimize inkconsumption in print jobs while maintaining the same overall color byusing an ICC device link profile to apply gray component replacement(GCR) while limiting total ink coverage (TIC).Note: Ink consumption can be minimized only if there is no color space conversionor simulation. The Ink Optimizing Solution is available for the ColorFlow Pro Workflowedition.

6 Chapter 2—What's new in ColorFlow 1.1

3EnhancementsinColorFlow 1.1When you start ColorFlow 1.1 the first time on a Mac, the Preferencesdialog box appears and enables you to change the language of thesoftware. (PR: DHER-1260)Black point compensation is a new feature in ColorFlow 1.1 and isintended to produce better shadow reproduction when you are creatingdevice link profiles with the relative colorimetric rendering intent. Bydefault, when you create a new relative colorimetric device link profilewith ColorFlow 1.1, the recommendation is to have Black PointCompensation selected. If you have upgraded from ColorFlow 1.0 to 1.1,your original device link profiles will be unaffected by this change. If youhave upgraded from 1.0 to 1.1, and you want to enable the Black PointCompensation option, you must redefine the applicable conversion orsimulation device link profile. (PR: TFID-1165)ColorFlow 1.1 includes Fogra 45, 46, and 47 built-in reference deviceconditions. (PR: JFOR-1167)ColorFlow 1.1 includes a minor user interface change. The Device CurveCMY adjustment dialog box now shows Current and Corrected(formerly Before and After). (PR: DHER-1227)In X-Rite i1 Pro charts, patch numbers are now positioned farther awayfrom the first patch in each scan row. (PR: LUCZ-1639)Change to white point adjustment smoothing: New Feature added: Insome cases, only the grid point at CMYK 0,0,0,0 is required to beadjusted. In previous versions of ColorFlow, if the whitepoint isadjusted, the edit is smoothed into the highlights to prevent harshtransitions in color. However, if you would not like to smooth theadjustment into the highlights and only affect the whitepoint, disablethe new feature "Smooth Adjustments" in the White Point Adjustmode. By default, this checkbox is enabled to provide the samebehavior as versions of ColorFlow prior to 1.1.6.3. (JFOR-1384)

8 Chapter 3—Enhancements in ColorFlow 1.1
