A tour of a silver mine in Wallace, Idaho, was onthe agenda for Tuesday, the first day of thereunion. Wednesday the LCIers took to the waterfor a tour of the 23-mile long lake which is one ofthe great tourist attractions in the area.The reunion was capped off by a grand banquetdinner. Gordon Smith, President of theAmphibious Forces Memorial Museum, reportedon the recent move the 713 to Portland for viewingduring celebrations surrounding Veteran'sDay. (See article on this elsewhere in thisnewsletter.) Gordon told the LCIers and theirwives that plans are being made for a new hulland engines for the 713 which would make it anoperating ship again.A contact with a local reporter resulted in alengthy article in the local paper, featuring picturesand stories of the LCIers. Good use wasmade of the excellent photos contained in thenew 2007 LCI Calendar for the article.All in all, it was a great reunion in a beautiful placeand the LCIers are looking forward to next yearwhen they can repeat this enjoyable experience.A Late Report from Ohio...The Ohio State Reunion was held September 18-19 in Columbus, Ohio. Just as we are going topress we received this report from Jim Aydelotte,State Director for Ohio:Just got back from Ohio and it was a wonderfultrip. We had a good time. 35 people attended andit was great. We now have 55 plus members andgetting stronger. I have people who make phonecalls to other members and also try for new members.It has worked for us. We will have the 4threunion at the same place in September 2007. Itwas great because another navy outfit was therethe <strong>USS</strong> IZORD a destroyer group and they plan tobe there next year, as they has such a good timewith us. There were about 30 in their group. I hopeother groups are having the success that we arehaving.
