Each member represents a different state Senatorialdistrict in Louisville Metro.T he past year has been one of the busiest but possibly the most productive in <strong>MSD</strong>’s 59-yearhistory. GrayThe first phase of Project DRI, a partnership between Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson, the Metro Counciland <strong>MSD</strong> has been a success. More than 381 neighborhood drainage projects have been completedrepresenting an investment of $67 million. The second phase of Project DRI is well underway withanother 300 neighborhoods scheduled for drainage improvements.the highest levelof service atIn August, <strong>MSD</strong> entered into a Consent Decree with the Commonwealth of Kentucky to rehabilitateLouisville Metro’s 3,000 miles of combined and sanitary sewers. The agreement calls for minimizingthe effects of combined sewer overflows and eliminating sanitary sewer overflows during the next19 years.H. J. WheatleyVice Chair***Mr. Brunner retired from the <strong>MSD</strong> Board on August 31, 2005, after 10 years of dedicated service.**Mr. Dallenbach was re-elected Chair and Ms. Wheatley was re-elected Vice Chair on July 11, 2005.In September, <strong>MSD</strong> dedicated the new Robert J. Starkey Pumping Plant in Butchertown. The $8 millionplant replaces the Buchanan Street Pumping Plant, the oldest in <strong>MSD</strong>’s flood protection system.Nine other flood pumping plants are more than 50 years old and are scheduled for rehabilitation orreplacement within the next 15 years.<strong>MSD</strong> began full-scale marketing and sales of Louisville Green, a fertilizer produced from biosolids.Louisville Green is rated as a Class A fertilizer and is safe for all applications. Markets include agriculturaloperations, golf courses, athletic fields and lawn applications. Now, biosolids that once cost ourcustomers landfill fees are returning a profit that can be applied to new construction projects.Fred R.
