SUBMISSION DEADLINE: April 1, 2011<strong>Research</strong> <strong>Grants</strong>The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Association</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Alternative</strong> <strong>Certification</strong> (NAAC) announces its 2011<strong>Research</strong> Grant competition. NAAC will award up to two grants of $2,000 each <strong>for</strong>quantitative or qualitative research projects related to alternative certification. Awardrecipients will be invited to present their research at the next NAAC annual conference andto submit a manuscript to the Journal of the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Association</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Alternative</strong><strong>Certification</strong>.To apply, submit the following:• Cover sheet (Downloadable Word Document)• Approval Authority (if applicable)• A brief abstract of the proposal (do not exceed ½ page)• A narrative description of the proposal (maximum length three pages) to include‣ Size and scope of the project‣ Target population including number of people involved and potential number of peopleimpacted‣ Goals and objectives‣ Project emphasis area(s)‣ Evaluation plan• Vita of project leader(s) and a paragraph summarizing the qualifications of personnel specific tothis project.• Budget: Provide a detailed budget with justifications <strong>for</strong> each item included. Funds requestedmust be clearly related to the goals and objectives of the proposal. You may submit an excelspreadsheet as long as you have incorporated narrative <strong>for</strong> each line item.Submission Instructions:• Submit one electronic copy (Word document) to: judyc@alternativecertification.org• Name your file as follows: yourlastname-firstname-research.doc• Use 10 or 12 point Times New Roman or Arial font and 1 inch margins.• Start with the cover sheet, then add the abstract, narrative, vita, summary of qualifications ofpersonnel, and budget, using a page break between each section. The membership application <strong>for</strong>m is on the website(www.alternativecertification.org) and dues are $50 <strong>for</strong> one year.• You must agree to register and to attend the 2012 NAAC Annual Conference to present theresults of your research.
