The Board of Managing Directors Robert K. Gogarten Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors, born 1943 After completing his education, Robert Gogarten worked in the Finance Management of Ford, starting in 1965. In 1976 he joined the Frankfurt branch office of the Bank of Montreal. In 1979 he was appointed to general management at Westfalenbank International in Luxembourg before starting to work as group treasurer at Berliner Bank AG, Berlin. In 1987 he was appointed executive manager and member of the extended management board. In 1990 came his appointment to the board of Westfalenbank AG, Bochum. At midyear 1997 he was appointed managing director of Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank AG, later working at the merged Bayerische HypoVereinsbank AG, Munich, as director of the division of multinational firms and regional division for western Europe. In April 2000 he was appointed to the board of Düsseldorfer Hypothekenbank AG. Up until his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors in October 2006 he had since December 2001 been senior member of the Board of Managing Directors of VALOVIS BANK AG. Dr. Matthias Bergmann Member of the Board of Managing Directors, born 1963 Matthias Bergmann after completing his traineeship in 1986 studied business administration, majoring in bank administration and corporate financing in Münster. After earning his doctorate (dr. rer. pol.) he went to work for Bankgesellschaft Berlin AG in Berlin where he was manager for strategic marketing. In 1998 he was put in charge as director of the central project staff centre and in 1999 took over management of the private client division for Berliner Bank and Sparkasse Berlin. In 2001 he was appointed executive manager and member of the extended management board of Allbank, Allgemeine Privatkundenbank AG in Hanover where he was made a member of the board of directors in 2002. In 2004 he was appointed managing director and management spokesman of GMAC-RFC Deutschland GmbH in Wiesbaden. In December 2006 he was appointed to the Board of Managing Directors of VALOVIS BANK. Michael Gnieser Member of the Board of Managing Directors, born 1948 Michael Gnieser studied law in Munich and Freiburg. After passing his final bar examinations in 1976 he worked at Bayerische Vereinsbank AG in Munich in lending and corporate client business. Starting in 1978 he performed various management functions at headquarters and in branch offices, ultimately as a branch manager. In 1986 he moved to Deutsche Bank Groups‘ mortgage subsidiary Deutsche Centralbodenkredit AG in Cologne where he became a director in 1991 and, among other things, managed foreign business, the marketing and distribution division and, after 1993, individual accounts in private and business banking. In 1995 he became head of loan department at Westfälische Hypothekenbank AG in Dortmund. In October 2003 he was appointed to the Board of Managing Directors of VALOVIS BANK. Wolfgang Nitsche Member of the Board of Managing Directors, born 1954 After completing his bank traineeship in 1974, Wolfgang Nitsche studied economics in Wuppertal, concentrating on finance and investment in Wuppertal. After a trainee period at BfG Bank he worked from 1981 to 1988 as loan officer in the banks‘ various lending divisions. In 1988 he took on the setting up of a real estate financing office for Norddeutsche Landesbank. From 1992 he was a branch manager with DePfa Bank AG in Frankfurt. In 2002 he moved to SEB AG (formerly BfG Bank). He first managed the Cologne branch office and after 2003 the branch office in Düsseldorf and was in charge there for commercial real estate business in North Rhine-Westphalia.
