Which type of product do I use?We have designed a system of product classification tohelp you choose the right product for your needs.These are:INDUSTRIALChoose products marked with this symbol whenyou are working in the most demanding conditions& need a high specification to deal with frequentuse, extra heavy weights or extreme environment.TRADEThese products are suitable for general purposetrade work & can cope with everyday wear & tear.DIYProducts marked with this symbol are only suitablefor domestic DIY jobs & should not be used bytrade’s people or in the workplace.Please note: You should always check the product’s dutyrating (see below) to ensure that it is right for the job youwant to do.Step ladders & extension laddersFor frequent & very heavy duty work choose BS 2037Class 1: Duty rating 130kg (20.5 stone)For light to heavy duty work you will need EN 131: Duty rating110kg (17.3 stone), maximum static load 150kg (23.6 stone)For occassional DIY & domestic use you will need BS 2037Class 3: Duty rating 95kg (15 stone)Please note that it is against Health & Safety Regulations touse BS 2037 Class 3 products for trade or industrial use.Loft laddersThe standard for loft ladders inEN 14975.Access towersThe standard for modularaccess towers is EN 1004.9mtrSafe Working HeightFor ladders & step laddersthis is typically 1.5 metresabove the last safe standing level.Height GuideFor micro powered access, accesstowers & work platforms with guardrailsthis is 2 metres above the platform.6mtr3mtr1Youngman Product Guide
