ASMi-52L2/4-wire SHDSL ModemFull management and monitoring of theremote unit is achieved by using anEmbedded Operation Channel (EOC). Themanagement channel uses SHDSLoverhead bits in compliance with ITU-TG.991.2 requirements, operating withoutinterfering with the data transmission.Management of Ethernet units isperformed via the data port.ASMi-52L units can operate opposite acentrally located LRS-24 rack withASMi-52CQ cards installed (see Figure 1).VLAN priority enables up to four QoSpriority levels (for Ethernet units only).Up to eight SHDSL repeaters can beinstalled in line to increase the operationrange of the modem. ASMi-52L providesbasic management of the repeaters.Supervision and configuration activitiesare performed using an ASCII terminal, IPhosts using the Telnet protocol, orRADview-EMS (Java-based modularclient-server scalable elementmanagement system) providing secureconfiguration and fault managementcapabilities. The terminal port supports a dial-upmodem connection for remotemanagement of ASMi-52L over telephonelines.A modem with a 4-wire line interface canbe configured to operate over 2-wirelines.Comprehensive diagnostic capabilitiesinclude:• Real-time alarms to alert the user onfault conditions (reported by themanagement station)• V.54 local analog and remote digitalloopbacks• SHDSL statistics collection for15-minute and 24-hour intervals.Automatic configuration allows the currentconfiguration to be uploaded anddownloaded from a configuration file.Figure 1. ASMi-52L Modems Operating Opposite ASMi-52CQ Cards over 2-wire Lines
