SCOPE OF WORKSPrepare and waterproof the new concrete deck to the main roof,the 4 balcony roofs including the timber decked stair pod, the liftpod, the plant pod and 2 roof level risers, the single storeyScottish Power transformer roof.Main roof, transformer room roof and balconies waterproofedwith Bauder felt.The Pods and risers are waterproofed with Bauder single ply.Main roof and transformer room roof have 200mm invertedinsulation, protection membrane and 20-40mm ballast.The Balcony roofs have 200mm inverted insulation, protectionmembrane and Kobra granite paving slabs on paving supports.The margins are protected by 20-40mm ballast.The Pods and risers have encapsulated 160mm insulation and areblue grey smooth finish.-2-Everlast Waterproofing Ltd O&M rev 1LJMU

In the condition sold, the product does not present a hazard to health. Theproducts are not required to carry a hazard label under the chemicals(Hazard information and packaging for supply) Regulations 1994 (CHIP 2).When chipped, stone particles can cause damage to the eyes. Eyeprotection to B.S. EN 166 should be worn.When products are mechanically crushed, respirable dust will be produced which cancontain silica (quartz). Engineering control measures should be employed to keepairborne dust to a minimum. If adequate local exhaust ventilation equipment is notprovided, dust masks, or their equivalent, to type FFP2 should be worn.FIREThere are no direct risks of fire or explosion from this product.OFF-LOADINGEnsure that the lifting equipment is suitable and will carry the weight.FIRST AIDWhere particles enter the eye, irrigate well with copious amounts of cleanwater. Seek medical attention, if necessary.Inhalation of dust, remove to fresh air and seek medical attention, ifnecessary.DISPOSALWaste from stone is easy to handle, non-toxic and inert. There are a number of details which needto be complete including handrail posts where the detail to the liquitec is not acceptable and requires removing and re-installing. Any deviation will result in the contract being consideredunguaranteeable.All mechanical and electrical work to plant and equipment should be carried out bycompetent mechanical and electrical qualified tradesmen. All plant is to be reinstatedand re-commissioned on completion of the roofing works in accordance with the client'sdetailed specification.Where building works are to be carried out by other trades, following completion of thewaterproofing, the contractor must make adequate provision for supplying protection toprevent damage to the new waterproofing.If any items of plant/equipment are to be situated on the finished roof, a sacrificial layerof Bauder capping sheet is to be loose laid beneath. This is to extend a minimum 25mmpast the point of contact on all sides. In the case of heavy items it may be necessary tointroduce a load-spreading slab, please contact Bauder for further advice.All lead work to be carried out by skilled tradesmen and in accordance with currentcodes of practice and the recommendations of the Lead Development Association.561 SITE INSPECTIONSBauder Site Technicians will carry out regular inspections of the project during thecourse of the works. The Approved Contractor must give reasonable notice to Bauder oftheir intention to commence laying capping sheet. This will allow a discretionaryinspection of the underlayer to take place, so that any remedial treatment necessary canbe carried out prior to installing the capping sheet. This is particularly important whentapered insulation has been used to ensure that any areas of standing water that mayremain can be addressed.Bauder must be notified when the roof is ready for final inspection and all related worksand snagging complete. See also clauses 910A or 910B (Landscaped roofs).SUBSTRATES / VAPOUR CONTROL LAYERS / WARM ROOF INSULATION610C SUITABILITY OF SUBSTRATES (CONCRETE) Substrates generally: Secure, clean, dry, smooth, free from frost, contaminants, voidsand protrusions. Falls: Where provided, the falls/cross-falls should be a minimum of 1:60. No deflectionsor back-falls present if the deck is designed to achieve a 0° level finished surface. Underlayer inspection: The Approved Contractor must give reasonable notice to thenominated Bauder Site Technician of their intention to commence laying capping sheet.This will allow a discretionary inspection of the underlayer to take place, so that anyremedial treatment necessary can be carried out prior to installing the capping sheet.750D LAYING MICA FINISHED REINFORCED BITUMEN TORCH-ON CAPPING SHEET Bond: Full over whole surface, with no air pockets. Excess compound at laps of top layer/ capping sheet: Provide a 5 mm - 10 mmcontinuous bitumen bead extrusion that must be subsequently heated and trowelledflush with the surface prior to applying the pedestrian tiles. Laying top layer: Fully bonded to the underlayer by torching in the approved Baudermanner. All laps to be butt-jointed, with joints off-set from the preceding layer. All laps toupstands, edge details, flashings, etc. to be 100 mm. Final Inspection: The finished roof must be thoroughly inspected by the Bauder SiteTechnician before any surface finish is laid (i.e. tiles). This is to ensure that anyremedial treatment that is necessary can be carried out prior to issuing the guarantee.Failure to ensure the instigation of this inspection will result in the issuing of the Bauderguarantee being put in jeopardy. Surface Finish: Paving Tiles to client’s specification and installed in accordance withmanufacturers guidelines. Layers of bitumen membrane: Carry in staggered formation up the upstand, with eachlayer fully bonded. Upstands: -At ends of rolls: Underlay layer only - Form with specified bitumen membrane carriedup without using separate strip.Elsewhere: Form with matching strips of bitumen membrane, maintaining laps.Additional fixing of bitumen membranes: Mechanically fix all upstands in excess of250 mm in height using appropriate fasteners. The product must not be used in any areas of Bauder Roof Systems withoutprior consent of Bauder Limited.SURFACING810A LAYING INVERTED ROOF INSULATION (FLAT AREAS) Preparation: Clear roof of other trades. Condition of substrate: Clean. Separating layer: N/A Setting out: Loose lay insulation directly over the capping sheet to brick pattern withstaggered joints. Minimize cutting and avoid small pieces at perimeters and penetrations.Dependent upon the total thickness required, it may be necessary to construct theinsulation using two layers of board. The manufacturer/supplier can advise on theavailable combination options. Joints: Butt together. Projections, upstands, rainwater outlets, etc: Cut insulation cleanly and fit closely around. Completion: Boards in good condition, well fitting and stable with no springing orrocking. Cover to prevent wind uplift and flotation as soon as practicable.816A VAPOUR PERMEABLE MEMBRANESetting out: To be rolled out loose over the Insulation. The material should be dressedup all upstand abutments and details to the height of the surfacing.Laps: The material is to be lapped a minimum of 300mm in a direction that helps shedwater from the roof rather than beneath the membrane.The ballast loading /landscaping should be applied immediately after the vapourpermeable membrane to ensure it is secure against wind uplift.820 LAYING STONE BALLAST Gravel guards: Fit to outlets. Condition of substrate: Clean. Application: Do not pile to excessive heights. Spread evenly. Depth (minimum): min.60 mm Installation: 20 – 40mm rounded washed pebbles to be installed onto the vapourpermeable membrane to a minimum depth of 60mm, which prevents wind uplift andflotation of the insulation in high winds and/or heavy rainfall Additional loading at perimeters: On high buildings in more exposed areas, wind upliftmay be a problem and in these instances paving slab ballast must be considered.Paving slabs should be a minimum of 50mm thick. The slabs should be laid on pavingslab supports of minimum 175mm diameter (or equivalent base area). On resumption of work: Cut away tail of membrane from completed area and removefrom roof.522 PROTECTION AND STORAGE OF MATERIALS Store rolls of polymeric membrane and associated products in a clean, dry, wellventilated and cool conditions. Store materials designated by the manufacturers as temperature sensitive in facilitieswhere temperature can be maintained at the recommended level. Insulation products must be kept dry and protected from wet weather during storage andinstallation.523 PROTECTION OF WORK Ensure that from completion of the roof until practical completion: The roof is not used as a working platform, unless fully protected to the satisfaction of theCA. No paints, solvents or other volatile substances harmful to the membrane are allowed tocome into contact with the roof surface. No building materials stored on the roof. Finished roof areas are adequately protected from damage by subsequent buildingoperations.530 APPLYING PRIMERS Coverage per coat (minimum): As per manufacturer’s recommendations. Surface coverage: Even and full. Coats: Fully bond. Prime the deck and all upstand abutments, edge detailsetc. with fast drying bitumen primer, as clause 320A and allow to dry, thoroughly. Pleasenote that primer should not be sprayed or poured onto the roof surface. It is best lightlyapplied either by rag wiping or with a roller after the taping strip has been taped intoplace, and ensuring adequate care is taken to avoid any excess primer dripping into andthrough the panel joints.Pre-screeded Cement Particle Board only: 200mm wide strips of Bauder R333 tapingstrip, loose-laid centrally over board joints. These can be retained temporarily held inposition with strips of self-adhesive membrane or gaffer tape, prior to the vapour barrierbeing laid.SUITABILITY OF SUBSTRATES (OSB BOARD)Substrates generally: Secure, clean, dry, smooth, free from frost, contaminants, voidsand protrusions. The new OSB 3 board should be BBA certified, conforming to BS5268Part 2:2002 & CPD/CE compliant, fixed directly to the metal using recommendedfasteners.Falls: Where provided, the falls/cross-falls should be a minimum of 1:60. Penetrations: Fully seal using bonding methods recommended by manufacturer. Edges of insulation at roof edges, abutments, upstands, kerbs, penetrations andthe like: Edges of insulation at roof edges, abutments, upstands, kerbs, penetrationsand the like: Enclose, with vapour control layer, dressed up level with the surface ofinsulation. Care should be taken to ensure adhesion when the temperature is below + 5º C. Please note: Should BauderTherm DS1 DUO Vapour barrier be specified and left exposed forlonger than two weeks as a temporary waterproof layer, the burn off release foil and surface ofthe torch-activated adhesion stripes will be effected by the exposure to ultra violet. All detaildesigns if not in accordance with the design shown within our detail drawing attachedmust be submitted to Bauder for approval prior to fabrication. All Thermofol Coated Metal flashings must be mechanically attached using recommendedfastenings installed at 200mm centres. The flashing must be sealed using ThermofolTape 20 to the structure as shown in the attached detail drawing to ensure minimum airpassage through or below the flashing. Supply and install Thermofolreinforced cover straps, 200mm in width fixed over the joints in the Thermofol metal edgetrim to provide a smooth neat finish. The membrane should be welded to the surface ofthe Thermofol metal leaving the centre section of the cover strap un-welded. Sealing: Weld together.780A ROOF PENETRATIONS THROUGH THERMOPLASTIC MEMBRANES Roof membrane: Cut around penetrations and secure to deck. Flanged sleeve:- Type: Form from Thermofol D 15 un-reinforced membrane, complete with baseflange.- Installation: Dress over and around penetration.- Roof membrane overlap to flange (minimum): 50 mm beyond fasteners.- Sealing: Weld flange to roof membrane.- Protection to top edge of sleeve: Flashing or weathering cravat.ACCESSORIES901A MASTIC SEALANT Provision should be made to allow for the use of Bauder Sealant in conjunction withBauder Sealant Primer at all abutments with the Thermofol system, and any otherinstances where a mastic seal is required. It is imperative that the primer is used to prepare the surfaces effectively to enable a longlasting key with the sealant.903A THERMOFOL STANDARD OUTLET Bauder Thermofol Standard Outlet of the correct size is to be installed through thesystem and deck after creation of a suitable size diameter opening. The outlet should besecured using suitable fasteners. All vapour barrier edges should be sealed to the deck using Tape 03. Connection to therainwater waste pipe should be made by others, details for this connection can be foundin the product data pages. The outlet is designed to be connected into the standardspigot end connector on the rainwater waste pipe. The outlet spigot is universal length tocope with differing insulation thickness’s and will require cutting down to the correctlength. The Thermofol waterproofing membrane should be welded on to the outlets preattachedmembrane. Install the clip-fix leaf grille.904A THERMOFOL STANDARD PARAPET OUTLET Bauder Thermofol Standard 80 mm Parapet Outlet to be installed through the systemand deck after creation of a suitable size diameter opening. The outlet should be securedusing suitable fasteners. The Thermofol waterproofing membrane should be welded on to the outlet body. Asuitable leaf grille should be provided upon completion.COMPLETION910A INSPECTIONS Interim and final roof inspections - These are a requirement where workmanship isincluded within the Bauder Guarantee and must to be carried out in strict accordancewith the manufacturer’s requirements.
