Going back toTerry Heath’sFOLLOWING ONfrom my recent articlesabout the earlydays of soul music inTelford, a great many thingshave happened. SylviaDean, another original SundayHeath’s soulie, has starteda new facebook group,Shropshire soul friends60’s/70’s which already hasaround 200 members. It isa very live and active groupwhich puts old photographsof friends of the group, rangingfrom holidays, weddingsand pictures taken of localbands and dances. It alsohas enabled old friends fromaround the country to renewfriendships with people thatthey have not seen in somecases for over 30 years. The creation of this grouphas triggered an idea thathad been floating around for prevailinga year or so, that of a TerryHeath’s Reunion.22 / www.wrekinnews.co.ukRob Corbett writesWhen another old Heath’ssoul regular, Don Forbes, contacted me to ask if Iwould help set up a reunionI immediately agreed.Don then contactedthe current owner of theold Town House, Mr EricRagonesi, to establish if wecould use the venue. Havingagreed that we could,a meeting was arranged.Sadly in the intervening period,Eric’s brother, Sam,another original Heath’s soulmember, passed away. Thistragedy delayed things, forobvious reasons, but themeeting finally took placewith Eric and the currentoccupier Costas, Don andmyself. As a result of thecircumstancesDon and I decided that all ofthe proceeds from the eventSuit Hireshould be donated to theAir Ambulance, in memoryof Sam. This decision beingfully endorsed by Sam’sfamily and friends. So the date was set, Sunday24th May, and with greatsupport from PP Media, ticketswent on sale on Friday16th April.
