To adjust whip forother frequency ranges, alwayscut from the bottom of the whip.Cutting the whip may be madeeasier by using the edge of a fileor grinding wheel to score the rodaround its circumference. Thensnap off with a pair of pliers. It is highly recommended thatthe rod be cut a bit longer thanindicated on the chart. In thisway 1:1 VSWR can beapproached from the long sideof the whip.LENGTH"L"Without SpringWith SpringWithout SpringWith Spring33132 138 144 150 156 162 168 174Frequency (MHz)The dark line indicates that the approximate length for a rod tuned to 150MHz is 46.25 inches.CARE AND MAINTENANCEIn order to maximize both the performance andthe appearance of your antenna, it isrecommended that you treat it in the samemanner you do your car. Periodic cleanings anda quality car wax may be used to help protect thefinish and extend the life of the antenna.ANTENNA LOCATIONMaximum performance will be attained bylocating the antenna at the center of the vehicleroof. However, satisfactory results can beattained in other locations, such as rear fender orthe trunk lid.REFLECTED POWERNormal VSWR will be less than 1.5:1. Highervalues indicate incorrect rod length or faultymounting condition. Check rod length by movinga hand toward the base matching coil. Ifreflected power increases, rod is too long. Ifreflected power decreases to a minimum, thenrises, the rod is too short.InchMeasurementDecimalEquivalent1/8 .1251/4 .2503/8 .3751/2 .5005/8 .6253/4 .7507/8 .875PRODUCT WARRANTYA. General Warranty.
