Auction 2008 Was Feeling the Beat
On November 22nd Ursuline Academy’s gallery and theatre turned into South Beach.
To the excitement of the 373 guests, bright fuchsia and orange accented the tables
which held hundreds of silent auction items. The dinner tables had tall ostrich feather
centerpieces which gave the theatre an elegant atmosphere. More than 100 volunteers
generously donated their time the night of the auction, while at least 400 more worked
on the project for the preceding eleven months.
The Auction generated $275,000 in sales and cash donations. Monies from the auction,
along with the house raffl e, and annual fund directly benefi t the students and programs
of Ursuline Academy.
Many thanks to all of the volunteers and guests, especially to Emmy & Tony Hobson
and Barb & Allen Backscheider for co-chairing the event, and to Mary McGraw
for her enthusiastic live auction leadership.
