PRESS RELEASE
TXTSTATION GLOBAL MARKETING & PLAZA MEDIA
OFFERING REAL TIME INTERACTIVE TV MOBILE
PHONE TECHNOLOGY TO THE SPORTS MARKET
Munich, Germany 11 TH October, 2005
Txtstation and Plaza Media GmbH announced today a partnership to launch a new
viewing experience for European sports fans using their mobile phone.
Txtstation TV, Txtstation’s innovative technology for interactive television, will be
implemented by Plaza Media during live in game sports broadcasts. The collaboration
covers a broad range of sports for German-language live TV, enabling a closer
integration for the fans into the viewing experience through fan participation through
TXT/SMS voting while offering viewers the chance to win prizes.
Plaza Media GmbH, an EM.TV Group company, is one of the leading full-service TV
providers and the largest German sports TV producer. Plaza will be using their
relationships to offer broadcasters a unique turn key solution effective immediately.
Matt Coleman President of Txtstation stated ‘The Txtstation experience engages
viewers in real time and creates new standards in broadcasting where a sponsor can
now integrate their brand within a game, while the broadcaster drives TV ratings’.
The Txtstation TV animated graphics collate and display the viewer’s votes instantly
and allow programmable triggers based on actual responses, ensuring maximum
participation while capturing the excitement only a live sports event can offer.
Txtstation also will collect valuable data such as demographic information, and also
offer the viewers to join mobile clubs. This is a great way to communicate with the
viewers for up and coming broadcasts and market directly to fans, while offering
special incentives to club members.
Robert Adams Director of broadcast states "The interactive service is not only a unique
extension to an event as far as fans are concerned, but also a valuable new marketing
channel and offers a new revenue stream for Plaza Medias clients’.
Txtstation has developed the system with broadcast quality graphics, and the
hardware is set up with the outdoor broadcast vans at the game, and working with the
director and programming teams, the results are displayed at designated times, with
commentator support. The system also allows for cross-border integration of
participants for international broadcasts.
