“Where Kids Come First:Each and Every One”Rachel Casey, PresidentBoard of Educationrachel.casey@csd4.k12.mo.us"Experience Grandview C-4"Rachel Casey, President, Board of EducationThis summer, as you come across Grandview C-4 students in yourcommunity, I invite you to ask them about their experiencesin the district. If they are a high school student, ask them whathouse they are in. I expect you will hear an enthusiastic responseabout the latest Green Team robots, entrepreneurial business goals, experiences in cadet teaching, or auditions for the fall musical. AtGrandview High School freshmen through seniors thrive in the SmallLearning Communities (SLCs). Academic gains are impressive ashouses create closer relationships with teachers and administrators.2011Walk/Run &Health FairThe GrandviewEducation Foundation(GEF) and theGrandview C-4 PhysicalEducation and HealthTeachers will co-host the10th annual GrandviewTriangle Walk/Run & HealthFair on Saturday, September17, at Grandview HighSchool. My personal experience has been hallways so quiet Ipeeked in doors to make sure students were there!Middle school students may not be quick to share, but they are developing their plans andpriorities. At GC-4 friendships in a diverse environment enlarge students worlds and providea wealth of learning opportunities not offered in a textbook. Also, middle students arepreparing their personal paths, taking career and interest assessments and planning for highschool and beyond. As you meet elementary students, ask them about their principals andteachers. Find out what books they are reading and encourage them to keep their minds, aswell as their bodies, active over the summer. And in the fall, we invite you all to visit our schools. Come to a football game, a marchingband halftime show, an elementary school literacy night, or to all-district activities such asthe Grandview Triangle Walk/Run (September 17) and Trivia Night (November 1). We alsoencourage you to sign up for the district e-news and visit www.csd4.k12.mo.us to learn aboutthe exciting events and achievements from all grade levels at Grandview C-4.BOE Retiree/Members Sworn InOn Thursday, April 14, Grandview C-4 School District bid a fond farewell to retiringBoard of Education Treasurer Allen L.
