Important experience for the operator of <strong>Max</strong>-<strong>Schmel<strong>in</strong>g</strong>-<strong>Hall</strong>e (= us)<br />

» Result:<br />

The <strong>Max</strong>-<strong>Schmel<strong>in</strong>g</strong>-<strong>Hall</strong>e became a multifunctional,<br />

nationally and <strong>in</strong>ternationally successfull to promote<br />

sports arena.<br />

» Someth<strong>in</strong>g to learn?<br />

- Expansions <strong>in</strong> technique and <strong>in</strong> the build<strong>in</strong>g dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

daily operations are expensive, and at the expense<br />

of profitability and efficiency.<br />

whereas<br />

- Based on substantial utilization concepts, <strong>in</strong>itial<br />

construction costs might be higher but will<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ancially pay off <strong>in</strong> the life-cycle consideration of<br />

had a different approach and background (Olympia<br />

2000). Today it is a successfull multifunctional<br />

sports arena - successfull <strong>in</strong> both: professional<br />

market<strong>in</strong>g and open to the public <strong>in</strong> sports<br />

» Even the experienced „operations“ consultant<br />

can not predict the future. But meet<strong>in</strong>g the state of<br />

the art requirements (laws, regulations, norms,<br />

rules, standards, ...) is crucial and will be the least,<br />

owner, <strong>in</strong>vestors, architects and planners should ask<br />

for from a professional and experienced venue<br />

management consultant.<br />
