Henry Chan (Kissinger & Nixon, MoonPalace) portrays Confucius in this week’s Mentors, as he reveals the ancient Chinese secret of – hockey!Director Francis Damberger (Due South, Road to Saddle River) returns behind the lens for the <strong>Annie</strong> Oakleyepisode while Norm Fassbender (1132 Pleasant Street) is busy keeping this week’s hockey episode in check.Produced by Anaïd Productions and Minds Eye Entertainment, Mentors is currently filming 13 episodes in andaround Edmonton for its third season.Mentors follows the adventures of young brother and sister team, Simon and Crystal Cates, after their cousin,Oliver, bestows his invention, VisiCron, to them. Using this ingenious computer program, Simon and Crystal zaphistorical figures into their 21st Century lives to help them solve a particular challenge they’ve encountered. Alongthe way, the mentors reveal surprising, little-known facts about themselves, adding new hues to their alreadycolourful lives.In the next episode, entitled Anything You Can Do, Crystal is incensed when the boys won’t let her play paintballwith them. Determined to join in the fun, she calls on <strong>Annie</strong> Oakley (Megan Follows) for some sharp shooting tips.Crystal soon discovers, though, that by aiming for what she really wants as opposed to just tying to make a point,she’ll always hit the bulls-eye.This week’s episode, The Tao of Hockey, sees Simon’s hockey team in a slump. When the motivational speakerhired by the Parent’s Committee fails to appear, Crystal brings in Confucius (Henry Chan), believing that anattitude adjustment by the team is in order. Confucius shows the boys that there is no need to rely solely on theteam’s star player, as there is a hidden dragon and crouching tiger in everyone.“I’m a huge fan of Megan Follows,” says Samantha Krutzfeldt (Crystal). “Watching Megan’s performance as Anneof Green Gables over the years inspired me to become an actress. She’s one of my role models and I neverthought I’d have the opportunity to work with her.
