The 15th Precision Ag SYMPOSIUM of Australasia provides a unique opportunity for
all precision agriculture equipment manufacturers, sellers and service providers to
showcase their products and services across a wide range of agricultural industries
Program features:
SPAA will launch its new publication PA in Practice volume 2 at the SYMPOSIUM, an exciting new
book filled with case studies, trial results and factsheets.
SPAA will also host its AGM, and our members will be part of the day where we will celebrate our
10 th anniversary as a farming systems group advocating the benefits of PA as well as possibly
awarding our 1 st ever life membership to acknowledge the work of the past and present committee
and sponsors to the SPAA organization.

This SYMPOSIUM in 2012 will build on the success of previous events organized by SPAA, the
Precision Agriculture Laboratory (PAL; formerly Australian centre for Precision Agriculture) and the
Precision Agriculture Research group of the University of New England (PARG) and continue to
highlight new PA technologies and their application, to increase the profitability and sustainability of
Agriculture in Australia.
SPAA, PAL and PARG have hosted many successful SYMPOSIUM’s, Forums and Conferences to
promote Precision Agriculture (PA), and the 15 th Symposiums promises not to disappoint. Recent
events held at Mawson Lakes (Adelaide), Albury and Armidale (NSW) have attracted more than
450 people including farmers and agronomists to hear first hand about the latest developments in
PA and their commercial application from other growers. The Symposium returns after a two year
spell and follows on from its success in Albury in 2010.
The 2012 SYMPOSIUM will feature a wide range of speakers on Precision Agriculture and attract a
wide audience of growers implementing PA across a number of agricultural industries and is being
held over two days (starting and concluding with lunch). Lunch will be served in the trade exhibition
area maximizing your coverage to the many delegates we expect to attend.

The Venue
The 2012 SYMPOSIUM will be held at Mildura.
Mildura is located in the far north-western corner of Victoria, on the banks of the Murray River,
around 400 kilometres from Adelaide and 550 kilometres from Melbourne. Flights direct to Mildura
from Melbourne are available on Qantas, Regional Express (REX) and Virgin Australia.
Mildura is a popular tourist destination and a bustling regional city in an area well noted for its
warm and stable weather. It features wide, tree-lined streets and is surrounded by vast numbers of
wineries and fruit growing farms.
Mildura's famous natural attraction is the Murray River which offers many activities, such as paddle
steamer cruises which depart from the wharf, swimming, fishing and the popular activity of living on
a hired houseboat and cruising along the river for a number of days.
The Mildura region was transformed into a rich agricultural oasis thanks to the work of the Chaffey
brothers from Canada in the late 1800s due to their experience with creating irrigation settlements.
Dryland farming, irrigated horticulture (table grapes, wine grapes, dried grapes, citrus and
vegetables), tourism including Murray Sunset, Hattah and Mungo National Parks, food and
beverage manufacturing, transport and logistics, retail, health and community services are
industries that exist with success in the region. Emerging industries include renewable energy
generation, aquaculture, mineral sands mining and recycling.
Mildura is the perfect base for exploring other locations in this area. A 90 minute drive west will
take you into South Australia's rich Murray Riverland region surrounding Renmark and Berri. 30
kilometres north-west of Mildura is the historic port town of Wentworth in New South Wales, where
the Murray River meets the Darling River, at the gateway to a vast outback region.
The region boasts a population of over 60,000.

Trade exhibition floor space will be offered to all premium and trade sponsors. The exhibition
space is limited and will be located where lunch, morning & afternoon teas will be served.
Furniture including a trestle table, poster boards and chairs, will be available for use at the venue.

Trade exhibitions will be on display throughout the two days from 12:00 noon on Wednesday to
14:00 on Thursday with many opportunities for delegates to view your exhibit and see the latest

The event will be widely publicised with both pre and post advertising and promotion. Pre event

advertising will include the company logo of all sponsors.
The event will be widely promoted to SPAA members through e-News and Precision Ag News.
Event promotional flyers including all sponsor company logos will be sent to a range of farming
system groups, the media, industry organisations and project investors. The Symposium will also
be promoted through the Precision Agriculture Laboratory and the Precision Agriculture Research
