Sprinkler Pump Test CardElectric pump test procedure1. (a) Check electrical supply is healthy and indicated on panel.(b) Simulate the pressure reduction of the trunk main by closing the valve on thehydraulic connection to the starting switch and opening, very slowly, the valve onthe drain thereto. This will start the pump. Record the cut-in pressure.(c) Return valves to normal positions.2. Record the current being drawn in amps.3. Check the engine oil level and top up with correct oil if necessary.5. (a) Check battery charger is working at correct rate.(b) Check by means of hydrometer that specific gravity is satisfactory.If low, replace battery.(c) Check battery electrolyte level and top up if necessary.6. If the cooling system is of closed circuit type check the water level in the primary systemand top up if necessary.7. (a) Simulate pressure reduction as in 1.(b) above.(b) Return the valves used in 7.(a) above to normal positions.(c) Shut off pump and restart manually.If diesel has closed circuit cooling, open maintest valve to obtain sufficient flow to prevent pump overheating. Run for 30 minutes.8. Check cooling water is circulating and gland sufficiently cooled by water drip.9. Record running speed in r.p.m.10. Record delivery pressure.11. Record engine oil pressure.12. Record engine water temperature.13. Record running hours.14. Shut off pump after 30 minutes.15. Reset automatic start if necessary.Refill fuel tank.To be done towardsthe end of the30 minute runGeneral16. Check level in suction tank.17. Check that pump running alarms operated.18. Check that all valves are secured open or closed as they should be.19. If Alarm Receiving Station, Brigade or Gatehouse alarm connection, check that signalwas received.Please keep completed test cards for future review.
