Self AuditThe following self audit has been preparedto evaluate the level of preparedness withinan organisation prior to Go Live. Go Liveshould be delayed if the results indicatethat employees or suppliers/contractors areunaware of the proposed rules.12Communication Training• Have all senior management been briefed?• Have all managers/supervisors been briefed?• Have all employees been briefed using teambrief, tool box talks etc?• Are <strong>Absolute</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> a part of employee/contractor induction?• Is there agreement on the investigationprocess to be used following a breach ofthe rules?• Is there agreement on the discipline processto be used following a breach of the rules?


Seat Belts• Has the Vodafone GroupHS&W Standard 06 – Driving atwork, been implemented?• Has the requirement to wearseat belts been communicatedto all staff and contractors?• Are all company vehicles fittedwith seat belts?• Are seat belts checked as partof routine maintenance?• Do all supplier contractsrequire all vehicles to be fittedwith seat belts?• Where taxies are used, are theyall fitted with seat belts?• Are company mini buses andcoaches fitted with seat belts?• Are seat belts specified whenmini buses/coaches are hired?• Does driver training include theuse of seat belts?• Is there a process to enforcethe use of seat belts? Suchas ‘stop and check’ at entry/exit to sites, inclusion on sitechecklists etc.13


14Use of Harnesses• Has the Vodafone GroupHS&W Standard 11 – Workingat Height, been implemented?• Where you deliver work atheight training, does this coverthe use of harnesses?• Are all personnel engaged inworking at height issued withthe correct PPE?• Do contracts with suppliersengaged in working at height,include the requirement to usesafety harnesses?• Is there a processfor monitoring theuse of safety harnesses foractivities engaged in workingat height? e.g. site inspections,spot checks, reporting process.• Do infrastructure designspecifications address workingat height risks, includingprovision of fall prevention andarrest systems?


Electrical <strong>Safety</strong>Qualifications• Has the Vodafone GroupHS&W Standard 07 –Electrical <strong>Safety</strong>, beenimplemented?• Have those engaged inelectrical work receivedappropriate training?• Do contracts with suppliersengaged in electrical work,include the requirement forall personnel working onelectrical installations tobe trained?• Do inductions, or anyother training, informthose who maycome into contactwith electrical installations(e.g. distribution panels, UPSequipment, switch gear) ofthe risks associated with thisequipment?• Are personnel explicitlyforbidden from working onelectrical equipment unlessthere are appropriatly trained?• If a ‘permit to work’ system forelectrical work is in use, arerelevant personnel aware ofthe system?15


Mobile Phonesand Driving• Has the Group HS&W standardNo 13 – Mobile Phones andDriving, been implemented?• Have the requirements of thispolicy been communicated toall staff and contractors?• Have employees been madeaware of the risk of physicaland mental distraction whenusing phones whilst driving?• Are all companycars fittedwith hands freecapability? Do the phonesissued to staff have thefunctionality to use hands freeequipment?• Do you have a process formonitoring the use of handheld mobile phones whilstdriving?• Have managers been madeaware of the health and safetyissues relating to contactingpersonnel whilst driving?17
