Appendix B – Sample Orientation PolicyGuidelinesAll new employees will meet with their department manager or supervisor and will be in<strong>for</strong>med abouttheir rights and responsibilities as outlined under the WC Act and the OHS Act and its Regulations. Newemployee orientation training will include specific in<strong>for</strong>mation and training on:• The name and contact in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> the new employee’s supervisor.• The employer’s and new employee’s rights and responsibilities under the OHS Act and Regulations,and the WC Act, including the reporting of injuries, unsafe conditions and the right to refuse toper<strong>for</strong>m unsafe work.• Health and safety procedures and codes of practice related specifically to the employee’s assigned jobtasks.• Where applicable, the employer’s code of practice related to Regulation 92-133, Code of Practice<strong>for</strong> Working Alone.• Where applicable, personal protective equipment specific to the assigned task.• Location of first aid facilities and means of summoning first aid and reporting illnesses and injuries.• Emergency procedures.• WHMIS training in compliance with Regulation 88-221 (Workplace Hazardous Materials In<strong>for</strong>mationSystem).• Contact in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> the JHSC or the employee health and safety representative, as applicable.<strong>WorkSafeNB</strong> | Orientation Guide | Page 47
