A NNUAL R EPORT <strong>2004</strong>2.2.2 GenerationAs at 31st December <strong>2004</strong>, generation facilities in the interconnected system comprised ofeight lignite-fired power stations, two oil-fired power stations, of which the Lavrio powerstation near Athens had two Combined Cycle Gas Turbines ("CCGT") units, one natural gas-firedpower station at Agios Georgios in Keratsini, one CCGT power station at Komotini (operation startedin 2002), and 18 hydroelectric stationsIn addition, in Crete there are three oil-fired power stations, two hydroelectric stations andtwo wind parks in operation.At the Chania station two fuel-oil fired units and one steam powered unit operate in an interconnectedsystem. In Rhodes, PPC has installed one oil-fired station. Finally, in the autonomous islands,there are 13 independent and 17 local oil-fired stations, 13 wind parks and 5 photovoltaicstations (with capacity of over 20kwp each).Besides the above, there are 5 local oil-fired stations (1 in the interconnected system and 4 inthe autonomous islands) remaining dormant.As of 31st December <strong>2004</strong>, the total installed generating capacity of our 95 stations (interconnectedand autonomous) was 12,224 MW.Of this, 10,686 MW is the capacity of the power stations linked to the interconnected systemsupplying power to mainland Greece and the interconnected islands.The following map shows the location of our power stations:C HAPTER 2C OMPANY I ( 23 )NFORMATION
