<strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong><strong>Seasonal</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Course</strong> Clubhouse ManagerDepartment <strong>of</strong> General ServicesDivision <strong>of</strong> Recreation/Mills Creek <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Course</strong>Job Title: <strong>Seasonal</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Course</strong> Clubhouse Manager____________________________________________________________________________Reports To: Recreation Program Supervisor____________________________________________________________________________Supervises Directly: Clubhouse Attendants____________________________________________________________________________Supervises Through Subordinates: None____________________________________________________________________________Purpose for the Position:Coordinates and Maintains Clubhouse operations and activities <strong>of</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Course</strong>Clubhouse employees and patrons. Must be proactive in bringing tournaments, outingsand programs to the <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Course</strong> to help reach the goals set by the Recreation Division.Performs duties with little direct supervision.Essential Responsibilities:Maintains current fee schedule for golf, merchandise, food, beverages and other services includedin the operation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Course</strong> Clubhouse.Make suggestions <strong>of</strong> development possibilities and reports maintenance needs <strong>of</strong> theClubhouse to the Recreation Program Supervisor.Maintains records <strong>of</strong> daily operations and monies received. Operates electronic cash register.Manages in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.Reports accidents, vandalism, theft and other violations to the Recreation Program Supervisorand proper authorities.Ability to interact with the public and various <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong>fices. Must establish and maintain effectiveworking relationship with employees and public.Answers telephone and give information to callers.Coordinates activities under the direction <strong>of</strong> the Recreation Program Supervisor.Maintains records <strong>of</strong> golf rounds, passes play rounds and locker and cart storage rental.Develops and promotes golf tournaments, scrambles, and outings.Assists the Recreation Program Supervisor with hiring and training clubhouse employees.Reviews workload and schedules work assignments for Clubhouse Staff.


Answers questions, solves basic issues or problems concerning the operation <strong>of</strong> theClubhouse and attendants.Reports status <strong>of</strong> work, projects and available personnel to the Recreation ProgramSupervisor.Orders merchandise, food and concession supplies and maintains inventory according toseasonal needs.Prepare, maintain and serve various food items in accordance with Health Department regulations.Required working a flexible schedule including weekends, holiday and evenings.Manages in compliance with established city policies and procedures.Performs related duties as required.Ability to understand and communicate written instructions.Must report for work at required time and date and maintain a responsible attendancerecord.The ability to follow a supervisor’s instructions, tolerate certain levels <strong>of</strong> stress and attendwork on a punctual, regular basis.The avoidance <strong>of</strong> violent behavior that threatens the safety <strong>of</strong> other employees.Skills and Abilities:Competent knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Course</strong> Clubhouse Operations.Identify problems and make decisions based on your experience and judgment, as well as onestablished facts such as budget allocations and legal requirements.Deal with all kinds <strong>of</strong> people.Speak and write clearly and effectively to influence people’s actions and to be sure that your plans willbe understood and followed.Change activities frequently.Plan and direct programs and the activities <strong>of</strong> others.Follow directions.Related and other duties as required.


Physical Demands:Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds <strong>of</strong> force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition existsup to 1/3 <strong>of</strong> the time), and/or 10 pounds <strong>of</strong> force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition existsfrom 1/3 to 2/3 <strong>of</strong> the time), and/or a negligible amount <strong>of</strong> force constantly (Constantly: activity orcondition exists 2/3 or more <strong>of</strong> the time) to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significantdegree, or requires sitting but entails pushing and/or pulling <strong>of</strong> arm or leg controls, or requires workingat a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling <strong>of</strong> materials even though theweight <strong>of</strong> those materials is negligible.Environmental Conditions:Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job isconsidered “inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more <strong>of</strong> the time inside.Reasoning, Mathematical and Language Development are indicative <strong>of</strong> the general level <strong>of</strong>development required to do this job. Deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Mathematical Development:Compute discount, interest, pr<strong>of</strong>it and loss; commission, markups and selling price; ratio andproportion and percentages.Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units <strong>of</strong> measure. Perform the four operations with likecommon and decimal fractions.Language Development:Reading: Read scientific and technical journals, abstracts and financial reports.Writing: Write journals, speeches and manuals.Speaking: Conversant in the theory, principles and methods <strong>of</strong> effective and persuasive speaking,voice and diction, phonetics and discussion and debate.Relationships to Data, People and Things:Data: Coordinating: Determining time, place and sequence <strong>of</strong> operations or action to be taken on thebasis <strong>of</strong> analysis <strong>of</strong> data; executing determination <strong>of</strong> and/or reporting on events..People: Speaking-Signaling: Talking with and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information.Includes giving assignments and or directions to helpers or assistants.


Things: Handling: Using body members, hand tools and/or special devices to work, move or carryobjects or materials. Involves little or no latitude for judgment with regard to attainment <strong>of</strong> standards orin selecting appropriate tool, object or material.Specific Vocational Preparation:Specific Vocational Preparation includes an occupationally significant combination <strong>of</strong>: vocationaleducation, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in lessresponsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.At least two years experience in managing a golf course or at least three years experience in workingat a golf course. Must possess at least one to two years business background.


To do this job, you must have the following amount <strong>of</strong> total education and/or experience: (Ifhiring someone into this position, this would be the minimum amount <strong>of</strong> experience and education thatwould be required in order for the incumbent to have a reasonable expectation for success.)Ohio Drivers LicenseHigh School Diploma<strong>Golf</strong> course specialized training/certification and/or management background preferred.OR, an equivalent level <strong>of</strong> education and experience
