Patrons of 3MBS …
Early last year 3MBS faced an unexpected and substantial expense which
impacted significantly on our continuing operations. We want to express our
sincere gratitude for the deep generosity of Mr W & Mrs J Mack, whose
significant donation in June 2011 allowed the station to offset this expense.
While this one-off donation allowed us to recalibrate, 3MBS relies on annual
financial support to maintain our constant broadcasting and support of
Melbourne artists. Listed below are the individuals who have donated to 3MBS in
the past twelve months. With their exceptional generosity this Melbourne radio
institution is able to continue to broadcast the finest of classical music and jazz
for your listening enjoyment.

A Lasting Legacy …
When 3MBS Honorary Patron Richard Divall announced at the
recent Young Performers Awards he had recently amended his will to
leave a bequest to the station his words clearly resonated with some
members of the audience.
Indeed, before the end of the afternoon one other 3MBS listener
came forward to discuss making a bequest and another inquired about
how such giving benefits the station.
Both of these gestures were good news for Richard who has a very
long association with the station: “Too long to remember”, he laughs
when asked to name the year he was first asked to consider taking on
the role.
In the intervening years 3MBS listeners have come to know Richard
“as one of the family” on air, either conducting one of the several
orchestras with which he has recorded, particularly Orchestra Victoria
and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, or being interviewed by station
presenters.
As well as his work as a conductor, Richard is busier than ever these
days as an academic within the music faculty of Monash University,
along with pioneering research into music written during the early
years of Victoria.
His decision to make his bequest to 3MBS known to the wider
audience is with the hope it will inspire others to follow: “Providing a
lasting benefit is a very worthwhile gift”.
