Child Find NewsPueblo School District 70 conducts free Child Find screenings to identify children who may behaving difficulty with development in the areas of♦ vision♦ hearing♦ speech/language♦ education (problem solving/concept development)♦ movement (large/small muscle coordination)If children are found eligible, special education services will be provided in the area of need.These screenings are available to all children ages birth to five years who live within SchoolDistrict 70 boundaries. Consultation is available for school age children. If you have a childbetween the ages of 16-21 and who has dropped out of school, please contact us if you areinterested in returning to school and feel you are in need of special services.Parents who have concerns about their child’s development in these areas should call for anappointment. They sang songs aboutour school, our country, and our world.Choir rehearsals ended on Wednesday,April 28, with our annual choir potluckbreakfast.Fifth Grade NewsThe fifth graders had a pennywars competition to be matchedby funds from PTA to raisemoney for a plaque to be put inthe school commemorating thefifth graders who are the firstgroup to have attended PrairieWinds Elementary from kindergartenthrough fifth grade.Ms. Bernstein’s class will helpplant 30 seedling trees as a memorialto the fifth grade class.Marvin Reynolds and CSU ExtensionOffice are providing thetrees and John Grieve of the USForest Service will be here to presentrabbit guards and an additivefor the trees.Early Admission intoKindergartenPueblo School District 70 extends theopportunity for children who turn 5 afterJune 1st, but on or before August 1st, toattend kindergarten. These children willbe administered a test and with a successfulscore, the June 1st date of kindergarteneligibility will be waived. This test isadministered by experts in the field ofearly education. Testing will be throughJuly. There is a $35.00 testing fee andtesting appointments can be made by callingthe Office of Educational Services,(719) 295-6509.
