Page 16 Community News Reyna de las flores de Mayo The Filipino Catholic Mission of Montreal (FCMM) launched the search for the Mayflower Queen to be crowned the "Reyna delas Flores on May 28, 2006, (Sunday) at St. Denis Church, 454 Laurier Avenue East (Metro Laurier, exit Laurier). Organizations have been invited to send their muses to the Mayflower Queen Celebration, in honor of the Blessed Virgin. The details of the search contest and fundraising activity were discussed on May 14, 2006, 10:00 AM, at St. Denis Church where the president or officer of the participating organizations were invited. Confirmed candidates from the following organizations have been received: Pangasinan Association Kapampangan Association of Montreal Tagalog Association of Quebec Knights of Columbus St. Kevin Council 13881 Bicol Association FAMAS Philbecan is not sending their muse but will donate in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This event is still open to all organizations who wish to put a muse in this festival. If you have not received the letter, you can still send your candidates. All muses or candidates will have to be in their "sagala" attire on May 28, 2006 for the crowning, and honoring of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Reyna de las Flores and her court will be the main flower offerers on May 28th Mayflower Festival and possibly during the Philippine Independence Day Mass on June 11, 2006. Every organization who wishes to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary thru offering of flowers by their Reynas on May 28th will still be encouraged to join in this event. Golden Valley celebrates customer appreciation day and their new Western Union Service It was a double celebration for Golden Valley last April 22. Henry and Alice Sia invited their hundreds of customers to their appreciation day and launching of their Western Union service. The Golden Valley customers gladly obliged! The large function hall of Golden Valley saw a constant stream of customers and friends from noon to dinner. The whole day affair was funfilled with great food, door prizes and entertainment numbers from singer/host Jennifer Camacho and Canadian Idol finalist, Mikey Bustos.
