By 1951 the Associations had merged toform The Bharat Scouts and Guides.There are three Sections in the Association:Cub Scouts aged 6 - 10 yearsScouts aged 10 - 18 yearsRovers aged 18 - 25 years.The award levels in the Cub Scouts areTenderpad, - One Star and Two Star. There arealso five groups of Proficiency badges: 1)Character 2) Physical Health 3) Handicraft 4)Service and 5) World Conservation. A specialGolden Arrow award can be earned by a Two StarCub Scout who has at least three Proficiencybadges.In the Scout Section the award levels areTenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. Thereis a President's Award which is awarded to aScout who has earned a certain number ofProficiency badges and has also done someservice in the community. A First Class Scoutmay wear different coloured cords after earning acertain number of Proficiency badges, a blue andgreen cord for six badges, a red and white cordfor 12 badges, and a golden cord for havingearned 18 badges and the President's Award.The Rover Scouts have three training levels:Rover Aspirant, Rover in Training and Rover inService. There is also the President's RoverAward, granted to Rovers who have achieved acertain standard.The Rover Scouts can also earn Proficiencybadges which include World Friendship, CivilDefence and Soil Conservation.The Association is involved in numerouscommunity development projects which includedigging wells, helping in adult literacy campaigns,poultry keeping, sowing, harvesting andorganising schools in villages.To motivate the Scouts to carry out projects in thecommunity, a national competition called "ThePrime Minister's Shield" is held.
