The company is billed for the extra time thatelapses before the disconnect is detected.When the application receives indication of an incoming call,it compares the calling number with an existing database ofcustomer telephone numbers. If the number is found in the database,the caller can confirm his/her identity with a password andcheck the account balance, order status, or shipping status. If thecalling number is not found in the database, the application willprompt the caller for an account number. The calling number andaccount number will then be entered into the database for futurereference.
