COURSE INFORMATION:Professional Military Education (PME), including Joint PME (JPME), <strong>is</strong> a critical element inofficer development and <strong>is</strong> the foundation of a joint learning continuum. Completion of JPMEpositions an officer to recognize requirements <strong>for</strong> and operate at the tactical, operational, andstrategic levels of national security, enhancing the total <strong>for</strong>ce capability and our capacity to wagetraditional and irregular warfare when necessary.AJPME and JCWS are similar in content and both sat<strong>is</strong>fy the second level of joint educationnecessary <strong>for</strong> becoming a Joint Qualified Officer (JQO).AJPME – AJPME was specifically created <strong>for</strong> the Reserve Component (RC) community and <strong>is</strong>conducted by the <strong>National</strong> Defense University Joint Forces Staff College (NDU- JFSC). AJPME<strong>is</strong> a 40-week, blended learning course cons<strong>is</strong>ting of two d<strong>is</strong>tance learning (DL) periods, and twoface to face (F2F) periods at week 13 and weeks 39-40, held at Joint Forces Staff College inNorfolk, Virginia. Attendance in these courses <strong>is</strong> targeted at Majors, Lieutenant Colonels, and Colonelswho are or will be assigned to joint positions such as those identified on a Joint DutyAssignments L<strong>is</strong>t (JDAL), or serving on the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Staff,<strong>National</strong> Guard Bureau Joint Staff, Combatant Command staffs, or in Office ofthe Secretary of Defense joint billets. General Officers may attend with appropriateapproval.B. Completion of JPME Phase I (granted through completion of <strong>Air</strong> Command and StaffCollege (ACSC) or another approved Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE)program) <strong>is</strong> required.FY 13 AJPME (JPME and JCWS) Application Announcement Page 2


C. A Secret security clearance, at minimum, <strong>is</strong> required.D. Members must have a current fitness assessment as of 15 Feb 13, IAW AFI 36-2905.5. APPLICATION PACKAGE REQUIREMENTS:Application package must include the followingitems:A. JPME Application Form - Applicants must identify their interest in AJPME, JCWS,or both on the application <strong>for</strong>m. Both courses are unit funded and require WingCommander (or equivalent) signature supporting member’s attendance and agreeing tounit funding during <strong>resid</strong>ence requirements. JPME Application Form <strong>is</strong> attached toth<strong>is</strong> document (top left hand side).B. Joint Officer H<strong>is</strong>tory (JOH) – A printed summary from the Joint QualificationSystem (JQS) (CAC only) located on the home page of the website, found athttps://pki.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/jqs/consent?continueToUrl=%2Fappj%2Fjqs%2Finit.do. Applicants are encouraged to ensure in advance that th<strong>is</strong> document correctlyindicates their joint experience and education. Th<strong>is</strong> <strong>is</strong> required even if there are nopoints in the JOH.C. TAG/ATAG or Equivalent Endorsement - A letter indicating the officer’s careerdevelopment path and a specific plan <strong>for</strong> the officer to obtain or use additional jointexperience. The intent of the unit’s leadership toward developing a member <strong>for</strong> jointroles <strong>is</strong> a critical factor in the selection of personnel to attend th<strong>is</strong> training.D. Current Fitness Assessment - Must reflect a passing score IAW AFI 36-2905. FitnessAssessment must be current as of 15 Feb 13.E. A personnel RIP <strong>is</strong> not required as part of the package. The recommendation panelwill, however, review personnel in<strong>for</strong>mation available through MILPDS during theselection process. It <strong>is</strong> incumbent upon each applicant to ensure their personnelin<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>is</strong> correct in MILPDS/vMPF.Note: Do not include other endorsements and/or letters of recommendation. If these areincluded, they will be removed from the package prior to panel review.6. SUBMISSION PROCESSA. AMRDEC <strong>is</strong> an Army FileExchange Website used often to send encrypted files or those larger than may beefficiently sent through email systems. Applications must be submitted to AMRDEC in one (1) single PDF package and madeavailable to <strong>NGB</strong>/HRT no later than 0000 EST on (NLT) 5 Mar 13 <strong>for</strong> packages to be<strong>for</strong> class 13-02 and 30 Apr 13 <strong>for</strong> all other class dates. Packages not received as asingle PDF file will be returned without review.E. Applications received prior to close out will be reviewed <strong>for</strong> completeness. Pleaseensure you review your application thoroughly.F. Incomplete packages or packages not meeting mandatory criteria received after theclose out date indicated above will NOT be considered.G. SELECTION PROCESS:A. A confirmation of receipt will be sent to the applicant in the <strong>for</strong>m of an email reply fromAMRDEC that the package was received.B. If the number of <strong>applications</strong> exceeds allocations a selection panel will be held.C. Selectees will initially be notified through their leadership chain, followed byindividual communication from <strong>NGB</strong>/HRT.D. Once member receives notice of selection, member must accept or decline attendancein writing by email to ang.<strong>for</strong>cedevelopment@ang.af.mil within 15 days. Failure tomeet th<strong>is</strong> requirement may result in the offer to attend being terminated and offered toanother member. If necessary, please see declination procedures below.E. Training Line Numbers (TLNs) will not be <strong>is</strong>sued, as courses are unit funded.Member must be in a military status to attend. Travel arrangements and orderprocessing are at the d<strong>is</strong>cretion of the member and their unit.8. DECLINATION PROCEDURES:A. Applicant may decline selection via letter or email communication, coordinatedthrough and with concurrence of the Wing Commander (or equivalent), and includejustification <strong>for</strong> declination (i.e., m<strong>is</strong>sion related, emergency, etc.).C. Unit Force Development Offices must immediately notify <strong>NGB</strong>/HRT of member’sintent to decline to allow <strong>for</strong> timely reallocation of school quotas and notification ofalternates.9.
