Recent research has shown Yoga has a greater posive effecton a person’s mood and anxiety level than other forms of exercise. Yoga’sability to improve moods is linked to increased levels of GABA, a chemical inthe brain that helps to regulate nerve acvity. Opportunies to pracceyoga during the workshop will help parcipants learn to ulize the basic toolsof yoga to help improve client outcomes. Yoga is a pracce that can be usedby people of any physical ability and fosters spiritual development in the contextof any belief system. Please wear comfortable clothes to move in andbring a mat if you have one.OBJECTIVES:Upon compleon of this workshop, parcipants should increase their ability toeffecvely care for clients by being able to: Define yoga in the context of mental health Incorporate basic yoga techniques to address depression and anxiety intoclinical pracce Idenfy yoga techniques that are proven to help with sleep, fear, anxiety,and sadness Describe how to refer clients to appropriate yoga classes;as well as implement these skills in their daily pracce.Please bring a sweater or jacket to ensure your comfort.


Yoga for Emoonal Well BeingABOUT THE FACULTY:Krisne Kaoverii Weber, MA, eRYT500, has been teaching yoga since 1995and training teachers since 2003. A registered yoga therapist, Krisne is theDirector of the Subtle Yoga Teaching Training for Behavioral <strong>Health</strong> Professionals,an RYT200 training, at MAHEC in Asheville. She has studied a variety ofyoga styles including Vini yoga, Lyengar, Viniyasa, Anusara, Kripalu and Acuyogaand has completed a Therapeuc Yoga for Seniors training at Duke IntegraveMedicine. Krisne is the author of Healing Self‐Massage (Sterling,2005) and has also published arcles for the Internaonal Associaon of YogaTherapy Yoga Therapy in Pracce journal and other health-related publica-ons. Her work has been featured in Redbook, Women’s World, and Natural<strong>Health</strong> magazines and Lifeme TV’s online magazine.TARGET AUDIENCE:This workshop will be beneficial to health and human service praconersincluding social workers, psychologists, counselors, substance abuse professionals,marriage and family therapists, case managers, recreaonal and occupaonaltherapists and all interested others.PROGRAM LOCATION:This program is being held at the Edwin W.
