Learning emotions through music• A recent study h<strong>as</strong> shown that at ninemonths of age, babies are able to discernwhether a song is happy or sad. The babiescould distinctly pick out Beethoven’s Ode toJoy <strong>as</strong> a happy song in contr<strong>as</strong>t to sadsongs that had been played.• When the tempo <strong>and</strong> rhythm were f<strong>as</strong>ter,<strong>and</strong> it w<strong>as</strong> in a major key, they noted it w<strong>as</strong>a happy song.
