The event was very successful with 29collection sites statewide. All told, approximately 2,400people turned in nearly two tons of expired or unwantedmedications from as far back as 1936. The street valueof controlled substances collected in Portland alone isestimated to be $57,540. The collection and proper disposalof these drugs will greatly reduce the impact of drug abuseand improper drug disposal on our communities and theenvironment.
