BUILDING GLASS AND CERAMICSproduct for Turkish building glass exports.The fourth product group was flat glass withan export value of US$39 million and with ashare of 14%. The last product group was glassmosaics and blocks with an export value ofUS$9 million and a share of 3%.In 2009 building glass products were exportedto 137 countries in the world. The EuropeanUnion has a share of 45% in the building glassexports of Turkey. In the same year, majormarkets for Turkish building glass products areGermany (9%), Romania (8%), Italy (8%) andFrance (%4).sector is the flat glass produced 800 thousandtons. In Turkey flat glass is producing by thethree plants of “T. Şişe ve Cam Fab. A.Ş.”Safety glass, insulation glass, glass blocks andmosaics and glass wool production are onmove. Today, 33 of firms in the building glassindustry, are producing safety glass, 80 areproducing insulation glass and 3 glass wool.ExportsTurkish building glass and ceramic productsare exhibited in international and local fairsorganised in Turkey. In 2011, mainly 10 fairs,which are listed below, will be organised inTurkey.In recent years, exports of the building glassindustry have had an upward trend. While in2007 and 2008, exports of the building glassindustry were valued at US$300 million andUS$377 million, in 2009 exports decreased toUS$283 million.In 2009, the largest export product of theindustry was safety glass (US$116 million) withshare of 41%. The second item was glass wool(US$76 million) with share of 27%.
