For allthe new girls we met this year I was especiallyhappy to connect and build withthem for the first time too.Everyone from the organizers, to the visualartists, to the breakers and the girlswho rocked the mic’s, made this event ahuge success!It was important, and relevant to mepersonally, as well as the people in mycommunity to witness history in themaking.I am always inspired when women get togetherand create. It opens the door for somany collective ideas that we oursleves can takeback into our hoods and build with.Young women in my hood, especially these daysneed to know that they have alternative ideas ofwhat a strong, and confident women can do. Especiallyif she is skilled in her craft, loves what shedoes, and represents herself truthfully. We needthat more than ever, and that’s why events likethis need to happen throughout the world.
