For the sake of theexample, let us simply agree that the point of the illustration is to show the rea<strong>de</strong>rthe relative importance of the elements that constitute the energy balance ofsome solar energy system.Eliminate Extraneous Material: Much of the material in Exhibit 8.1 is clearlyunnecessary for the point to be ma<strong>de</strong>. All those repetitions of “MWH” can go, forinstance; there must be a simpler way to show this. Likewise, all those <strong>de</strong>cimalpoints are meaningless.Additional material can also be discar<strong>de</strong>d, once we recognize the nature of thedata. It refers to measurements of a solar energy system. Measurements onsuch <strong>de</strong>vices are unlikely to be accurate down to 1%.
