Annual ArchitectureProgramme <strong>for</strong>primary schoolsSpring <strong>and</strong> Summer TermArchitecture <strong>and</strong> the built environment is something that has a profoundimpact on all our daily lives. Targeting inner-city state schools, Open-Cityaims to broaden horizons <strong>and</strong> enrich curriculum activities, especially indesign education. All education programmes are FREE to schools.Architecture in Schools: Primary is a programme <strong>for</strong> primary schoolstudents in years 5 <strong>and</strong> 6 (age 8-11). <strong>The</strong> programme brings students intocontact with key pieces of exemplary London architecture. Buildingexplorations encourage young people to become ‘architectives’, to look<strong>for</strong> clues, learn design skills <strong>and</strong> see ways in which people use space.This direct experience leads on to creative workshops in the classroom.At the end of the project, pupils are invited to submit their work to theProgramme Awards competition.
