US Sumo Federation Rank Requirements for USSF MembersFor Shodan (Rank Certificate Fee $30)Applicant must be 15+ years of age and satisfy any one of the following requirements:1. Minimum of six months training, and a placing finish in the World Sumo Championships (WSC).2. Minimum of one year training, and a placing finish in a National or International Tournament.3. Minimum of two years training, and competing in a National or International Tournament three ormore times.4. Minimum of three years training, and competing in USSF-sanctioned National or LocalTournaments three times or more.5. (Non-competitors) Minimum of four years training and officiating experience.For Nidan (Rank Certificate fee $40)Applicant must be 18+ years of age, hold Shodan rank, and satisfy any one of the followingrequirements:1. Minimum of one year training after Shodan, and a placing finish in the WSC.2. Minimum of three years training after Shodan, and a placing finish in a National or InternationalTournament.3.
