WHAT WE DO...We offer a range of waste collection andrecycling services and opportunities toresidents and businesses throughout theborough including the following:Kerbside Collections are provided for themajority of households for garden waste,cardboard, plastic bottles, paper, glass andcans and household waste, with a range ofbags and containers available to suit eachindividual household recycling need.Household Waste Special Collections arecurrently provided for larger items such asfurniture, beds, mattresses and largeelectrical items.Hazardous Waste such as fridge/freezers,televisions, computer monitors, etc can bedisposed of at some or all household wasterecycling centres.Household Clinical Waste Collections areavailable for the safe disposal of items likeincontinence pads and dialysis waste.Working with the South West Yorkshire Trustwe provide a confidential service.Household Waste Recycling Centres areavailable throughout the borough.Waste Minimisation Strategies – thecouncil manage a number of incentiveschemes that reduce waste to landfill,details of which can be found atwww.barnsley.gov.uk/recycling-generalinformation.Commercial Waste and RecyclingCollection service is available to everycommercial and industrial premise in theborough with a wide range of wastecollection and disposal services atcompetitive prices, also offering help andadvice on commercial waste spillage.Commercial Clinical Waste Disposal offersthe safe collection and disposal of itemslike incontinence pads and dialysis wastefrom commercial premises.Further information on any of the servicesdetailed above can be found atwww.barnsley.gov.uk/waste1O U R C O M M I T M E N T T O Y O U

HOW YOU CAN HELP US...Please help us by only putting thedesignated items in your bins. You can findthis information on the stickers placed onthe underside of each bin lid.Help us by doing your bit for theenvironment and make some simplechanges to the way we live our lives. Youcan help manage waste by doing any of thefollowing:• Buy concentrated and refillableproducts.• Buy products loose, don’t forget you payextra for packaging.• Think durability, buy rechargeablebatteries.• Take a re-usable shopping bag to theshop.• Don’t throw away unwanted gifts orclothes – either donate to your localcharity shop or take them to a clothingrecycling bank.• Give your old magazines to friends ordoctor/dental surgery.• Use the kerbside collection service torecycle newspapers, magazines, plasticand glass bottles and cans or take themto your nearest bring site.• Recycle your engine oil safely by takingit to your nearest household wasterecycling centre.• Switch from disposable nappies to “realnappies”.• Buy recycled products where possible.We want to know what you think about ourservices and the work we do as we areconstantly working to improve our service -so• If you have any suggestions on how wecan improve, we’d like to hear from you.• If you are happy with the service you’vereceived, please let us know and we’llpass on your compliments to the staffconcerned.And• If you have a complaint, we need toknow so that we can take any necessaryaction to put things right.
