• RULES AND REGULATIONS •1. The <strong>Show</strong> will open at 8.30 am.2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitor's responsibility to ensure that exhibits are availablefor judging when required.3. Judging will commence at 9.30 am.4. Exhibits may be removed from the <strong>Show</strong> after their judging has been completed. The <strong>Show</strong> will close halfan hour after all their judging has been completed.5. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorisedby the <strong>Show</strong> Management.6. ENTRY FEES: Members: First entry per dog £4.50; each subsequent entry with the same dog £1.50.Non-Members: First entry per dog £5.50; each subsequent entry with the same dog £1.50. Best Puppy in <strong>Show</strong>Where a Best Puppy in <strong>Show</strong> competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in <strong>Show</strong> is a puppy which has competedand is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceedingtwelve calendar months of age on the first day of the <strong>Show</strong>. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group orBest in <strong>Show</strong> is a puppy it will automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in<strong>Show</strong> respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in <strong>Show</strong>is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it will also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, BestPuppy in Group and Best Puppy in <strong>Show</strong> respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, BestPuppy in Group and Best Puppy in <strong>Show</strong> must follow the selection of Best of Breed, Best in Group and Bestin <strong>Show</strong> respectively.a. <strong>Show</strong> Judged on the Group System1) Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from puppies which have beenjudged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy.2) Best Puppy in <strong>Show</strong> must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners provided they areunbeaten by any other puppy.b. Proviso For the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny,Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog.12. Best in <strong>Show</strong>The dog declared Best in <strong>Show</strong> is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited atthe same <strong>Show</strong>.a. <strong>Show</strong>s Judged on the Group System(Definition; <strong>Show</strong>s judged on the Group System includes classes for breeds within more than one group,as defined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and require a judge to declare a best of each group after whichthe exhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in <strong>Show</strong> and Reserve Best in <strong>Show</strong>.)1) Best of BreedWhere a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared from those exhibits which havereceived a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sexof a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared.2) Best of GroupBest of group and subsequent placings must be selected from:-a) The Best of Breed winners in each group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs.b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each groupor on each day.


3) Best in <strong>Show</strong>Best in <strong>Show</strong> must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. ReserveBest in <strong>Show</strong> must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection for Best in<strong>Show</strong>.b. Withdrawal from other Competition Dogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in <strong>Show</strong>maybe withdrawn from all other competition other than breed classes and Best of Breed prior to thecompetition for Best of Group or Best in <strong>Show</strong> as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beatenin competition for Best in Group or Best in <strong>Show</strong> may subsequently be exhibited in all competition forwhich it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best in <strong>Show</strong> and Reserve Best in <strong>Show</strong> however, mustnot compete in any subsequent competition.Dogs may be withdrawn from AV Classes when judged before Breed Classes.c. Proviso For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch,Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to bebeaten dogs.13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in <strong>Show</strong> competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since theannouncement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previousjudging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the <strong>Show</strong> Management.14. No modifications will be made to this <strong>Schedule</strong> except by permission of the General Committee of theKennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for the Preparation ofDogs for Exhibition.16. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number beforeentry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number willbe returned to the exhibitor/competitor.17. Dogs in Cars on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Cluboffers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KClicensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on abusy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots ofwater available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around thedog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plentyof water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extendedlengths of time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead todire results. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respectmay be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation torefuse any entry.18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entryform and must be Kennel Club registered.19. The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of dogs brought for exhibition but it must bedistinctly understood by exhibitors and all other persons that the Committee will NOT be responsible forthe entire or partial loss or detention of or damage to a dog or any other property whether arising fromaccident or any other cause whatsoever nor from any act or omission of themselves, their officers, agents,servants or others, and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.20. The Committee can accept no responsibility for products advertised or sold by stand holders at the <strong>Show</strong> andwish to remind exhibitors that grooming products on sale may not meet the requirements of the Regulationsfor the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.21. All gangways to be kept clear.


22. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ringnumber.23. The Committee are empowered to exclude any dog which is not in a fit state for exhibition, either fromdisease, vice, natural or other causes, and if such exclusion takes place either before or after the dog isjudged, the entrance fee will be forfeited.24. No animal other than an exhibit duly entered at the <strong>Show</strong>, or dogs entered 'Not for Competition', will beallowed within the precincts of the <strong>Show</strong> during its continuance.25. No acknowledgement of receipt of entries will be sent unless a stamped, addressed postcard is enclosedwith entries.26. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possibleany fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within theenvirons of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches.27. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at alltimes ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs,car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up periodat the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).28. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objection has been lodgedor not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by thescheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment ofappropriate entry fees.• DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES •(the word 'dog' includes both sexes)In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any <strong>Show</strong> award that counts towards the title ofChampion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Wins at Championship <strong>Show</strong>sin breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open <strong>Show</strong>s. In thecase of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members' classes or competing for Members' Specials eachpartner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society.In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closingof entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. Saturday, 17th August 2013.Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering for Variety classes, wins in bothBreed and Variety classes must be counted. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. A dogis not eligible for entry in Variety Classes (excluding AVNSC classes) unless also entered and subsequently exhibitedin a Breed class where such a class is provided for which it is eligible. Exemptions from this Regulation are:(1) a puppy, unless a class for dogs under 12 months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the breed.(2) a dog in Any Variety Field Trial or Working Trial Class.(3) a dog in Any Variety Veteran Class.(4) a dog in Any Variety Champion Class at a Championship or Open <strong>Show</strong>.(5) a dog entered at a Limited <strong>Show</strong>.(6) as provided in Annex A to these Regulations.(7) a dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in Breed Classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge.(8) a dog in Young Kennel Club (YKC) Stakes Classes.(9) a dog in Good Citizen Dog Scheme Classes.(10) Exhibits Bred by the <strong>Schedule</strong>d Breed Judge.If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, theexhibitor may choose one of the following options:-(1) WithdrawalThe dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20.(2) Transfera) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the <strong>Show</strong>Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weightor height and, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to theOpen class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.b) If an exhibit is entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy class, Puppy class or Junior class, which is over agebut under twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty four calendar


months of age respectively, the <strong>Show</strong> Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy class, Junior classor Yearling class respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event ofthere being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling class to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex,weight or height.c) For any reason other than the above, the <strong>Show</strong> Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for thecorrect breed, colour, sex, weight or height.d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, thedog may not be transferred to any other class.MINOR PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the <strong>Show</strong>.PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the <strong>Show</strong>.JUNIOR For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the <strong>Show</strong>.Graduate For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or 4 or more First Prizes at Championship<strong>Show</strong>s in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes whether restricted ornot where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.Post Graduate For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or 5 or more First Prizes atChampionship <strong>Show</strong>s in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes whether restrictedor not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.OPEN For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the <strong>Show</strong>.VETERAN For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the <strong>Show</strong>.CHAMPION For dogs which have been confirmed a Champion, show Champion or Field Trial Champion.Champion classes may not be scheduled for individual breeds or varieties of breeds.ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED For Breeds of dog for which no separate breed classesare scheduled.SPECIAL BEGINNERS For all dogs, owners and handlers not having won a Challenge Certificate.SPECIAL YEARLING For dogs of six and not exceeding twenty four calendar months of age on the first dayof the <strong>Show</strong>.ADVISORY NOTICENOT FOR COMPETITION Societies may at their discretion, accept Not for Competition entries.
