lnterprofessional Education - - Strand 1.The Professions - - WHO AM I?Instructions for activityPrior to the activity the students will already be in groups.Randomly distribute the profession cards so the each group has 3 (or 4) you may have some left over.Provide each group with one of the profession information packs from the IPE box.Give each group 3 (or 4) of the 'WHO AM I? 'sheets. (match the number of profession cards that they have.)Instruct the students that they must not write the word that is on their profession card on the 'WHO AM 1?' sheets.Ask the groups to fill in all sections of one 'WHO AM 1?' sheet for each profession card, allowing about 30mins for this task.Facilitate the work that each group is doing helping them to delve in to the information about the professions they have.Tip they may wish to refer to the professions list in their workbook as a prompt.After 30mins.Collect all the profession cards in shuffle, and place them face down on a table (include any left over ones).Instruct each group to pass their pile of 'WHO AM 1?' sheets clockwise 2 groups so that each group gets a different pile of sheets.Ask each group to designate a runner.Instruct the runner from Group I to approach the table with the profession cards on and pick one up. If he/she believes that it matchesthe professions described on one of the 'WHO AM 1?' sheets that the group has, then they return it to the table and place it in the centreof the sheet covering the words 'WHO AM 1?'. Check that they have got it correct. If they believe that the card does not match one oftheir sheets then they place the card face down on the table again.Tip the runner should try to remember the location on the table of cards he/she has returned to the table.Continue by then asking Group 2 runner, then Group 3, carry on going round all groups until one group has successfully selected theprofession card to go with all of their 'WHO AM I' sheets - - this group is the winning group.Promise the winning group a prize at the start of the second Strand 1 event (2 nd half day or after lunch), then buy the prize!).Time should be sufficient to allow every group to finish selecting cards until they have them all.Don't forget to collect all cards in at the end of the activity.Objectives (see over page)

Worked as a team. Engaged in group activity that is valuable and fun. Learnt or refreshed their knowledge on the roles of different professions. Learnt some new facts about the professions. Discussed and challenged stereotypical views of professions. Explored key interprofessional working relationships that exist. Possibly had the chance to tell each other about their own profession Engaged in active learning. Benefitted from the facilitation by the session leaders. Acquired some information that they can transfer in to their work books. Utilised an IPE activity to enable them to think about lnterprofessional working in practice.
