Course Title:AMIDEAST Education Abroad ProgramsAmman JordanSummer 2010Arabic 202: Modern Standard Arabic 45 credit hoursCourse Description:The course incorporates developing vocabulary, verb conjugation, including somecomplex verbs, new patterns, plural and other Masdar مصدر forms. The course alsofocuses on developing the ability of determining the construction of the Arabicsentence and simple Arabic text.The Qasid Institute for Classical and Modern Standard Arabic is the partner forAMIDEAST’s Education Abroad Program in Amman.Course Objectives:• To Enrich Arabic vocabulary.• To develop mastery of Arabic orthographic system.• To master an Arabic verb system.• To master some complex Arabic sentences: constructions and new verbconjugations).• To develop more discussing situations and subjects.• To write correct paragraphs and simple texts.• To discover and enrich Arabic and Islamic culture via some vocabulary (Names,words, verbs, texts and situations).Course Learning Outcomes:By the completion of this course, students will be able to:• Master and distinguish Arabic sentence structures.• Understand and construct simple paragraphs and simple texts.• Enrich his/her vocabulary.• Understand some Arabic spoken situations.• Read and understand short paragraphs and short texts.• Write correct sentences and correct paragraphs and short texts• Start to build up more developed ideas about Arabic and Islamic Culture.
