The returnees include All-BigSky Conference first teamer AriWood, WSU’s second-leading goalscorer and point earner last season.Also returning is leading scorerJessie Baddley, who scored a teambestfive goals and four assists forWSU, earning her second teamAll-Big Sky honors.Two other player who earnedAll-Big Sky honors in 2010 alsoreturn, senior midfielder RoxanneTebbs (second team), and sophomoredefender Bailey Eames (honorablemention).“I expect every to step up andplay well this season,” Wood said.“We want to bond as a team andplay together.”The returning seniors will bebolstered by a strong group offreshmen, several of which are expectedto see significant minutesthis season after their performancesduring fall camp.“I think we have a lot of talentthis year,” senior Collette Simmonssaid. “I’m very excited to start theyear. I expect us to do really well.We have a lot of games in the stateand I’m looking forward to that.”<strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong>’s seniors are hungryand looking to cap their careerswith a second Big Sky Conferencetitle and a trip to the NCAA Women’sCollege Cup. In 2008, when thisseason’s seniors were freshmen,the Wildcats captured the Big Sky’sregular season title with a 5-2-0mark in conference play, but justmissed out on a berth in the Cupafter a falling to Northern Arizona inthe conference tournament final.“Our goal is always to competefor a conference championship;that’s what we train and preparefor,” Crompton said. “I think thisparticular group, all of us, havesomething to prove. We’ve hadtwo years where they’ve had a lotof near misses and the ball hasn’tbounced their way.“For our seniors, this is their lastchance to go out and create somekind of legacy for themselves.”Season-opening notes• <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> has 10 seniors on its <strong>2011</strong> roster, the largest seniorclass in school history.• Today begins the 16th season of Wildcat soccer, with <strong>Weber</strong><strong>State</strong> posting a 6-8-1 record in season-opening matches.• The Wildcats are 122-125-3 all-time, the second-most overallwins of any program in the Big Sky Conference. <strong>Weber</strong> <strong>State</strong> is 52-28-8 in league play, and is the conference’s all-time wins leader.• Of the 27 players on the Wildcats’ roster, 26 are natives of Utah.Sophomore goalkeeper Ryann Waldman is the only non-Utahn.
