08Banbridge DistrictNEIGHBOURHOODWATCH NIAs from 1st April 2012, BanbridgeDistrict Policing Partnership (DPP) andBanbridge District Community SafetyPartnership (CSP) will be replaced by asingle partnership known as a Policingand Community Safety Partnershipor PCSP. This will be the same across<strong>Northern</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong> with each Council areahaving one PCSP in place <strong>of</strong> the previoustwo partnerships.The new PCSPs will unite the functions<strong>of</strong> the DPP and the CSP but more thanthis, the new single partnership willprovide a co-ordinated, multi-agency andmulti-community approach to makingyour District a safer place to live, workand socialise.The membership <strong>of</strong> a PCSP must reflectthe makeup <strong>of</strong> the Council district that itserves. PCSP Members are drawn from:• Local elected councillors – know asPolitical Members (ten)• Members <strong>of</strong> the public who arepublic appointments – known asIndependent Members (nine)• Statutory agencies such as thePSNI, the NI Housing Executive,etc.– known as Centrally DesignatedPartners. These members arelegislated by the Assembly and theirrepresentatives must be members <strong>of</strong>every PCSP.• Representatives from the localcommunity & voluntary sector, localagencies, organisations, etc. – knownas Locally Designated Partners, thesemembers are agreed upon locally andinvited to be part <strong>of</strong> the PCSP. **The legislation states that there must bea minimum <strong>of</strong> four designated (centrallyor locally) partners on a PCSP but thereis no maximum number <strong>of</strong> designatedpartners.Within the Banbridge District,<strong>Neighbourhood</strong> <strong>Watch</strong> is an on-goingsuccess story that empowers local peopleto make a difference to being safe andfeeling safe where they live.Whilst the distinctive NW signsundoubtedly act as a deterrent, becominginvolved in setting up and supporting aNW scheme where you live can help tocontribute to the sense <strong>of</strong> community andwellbeing for you, your family, friendsand neighbours.design & print: mooney media ltd. banbridge - 028 4066 0390
