Swanson, MD ’92, regularly takes part in cardiac surgical missions to countries in needof advanced health care services. In February Dr. Swanson traveled to Ghana, where shehelped to open a new hospital. Last fall she spent time in Peru, continuing a collaborationwith local surgical teams. Interacting with both adult and pediatric surgical patients, Dr.Swanson spent some quality time with Sebastian (above)—the first child to undergo heartsurgery in Arequipa, Peru.
