Day 35Day 35Your giving in this lifewill have an impact onyour experiences in eternity.Think about, discuss or pray about the verse that relates most to your life:Philippians 4:17 Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking forwhat may be credited to your account.Luke 14:13-14 When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled,the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repayyou, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.Matthew 6:19-21 (Jesus said) “Do not store up for yourselvestreasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thievesbreak in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break inand steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”Luke 12:33-34 (Jesus said) “ provide purses for yourselves that willnot wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, whereno thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is,there your heart will be also.”Luke 16:9 Use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so thatwhen it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.If you ask people what they can “afford to give” to the Lord’swork or a special project, they will usually come up with a smallamount that they feel they can handle. But if you ask people todetermine what God is prompting their heart to give, there is notelling what God will lead them and provide for them to do.God will often speak a financial amount into a person’s heart thatis far bigger than their mind can at first grasp.It often takes the mind time to catch up to the amount that Godhas spoken into a person’s heart to give.71
Seize theOpportunityHundreds of years ago when people mainly lived nearthe oceans, the word opportunity was coined.It came from the time when ships needed to wait untilthe tide was in before heading out to sea, otherwise theship would run aground. In the Latin language, the word“ob portu” described the perfect moment when timeand tide converged for a ship to get underway.Into every person’s life come some God-ordainedopportunities.You’ll know it’s the right time when an urgent, lifechanging need—something that has eternal andsignificant value—converges with your ability.
