IntroductionThe IMPAX EL-OLA is a basic DICOM storage provider of DICOM images and is intended to provide import and storagecapabilities that can then be used by other resident applications for purposes such as viewing, reporting, editing, etc. The IMPAXEL-OLA will use a minimum amount of memory and CPU resources. It is expected that sufficient hard-drive resources will beprovided, monitored, and maintained by other agents to allow continuous use.Implementation ModelApplication Data Flow DiagramThe specific application models for this AE are shown below:ImageStoredonDiskIMPAXEL-OLARequestImageStoragRemoteVerificationThe IMPAX EL-OLA is a Microsoft Windows (98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP) applicationfor the transfer of DICOM images. It is executed on OS startup as a “Service” for all Windows operatingsystems.Functional Definitions of AE’sThe IMPAX EL-OLA waits for other Application Entities (AEs) to initiate DICOM storage requests,according to the presentation contexts stated below, and will then persist the transferred images to the localhard drive as a DICOM Part 10 file. It is up to the resident applications to manage, index, and eventuallydelete these images. The IMPAX EL-OLA never deletes an image file.
