This <strong>report</strong> represents the <strong>Sutter</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sacramento</strong> <strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>Region</strong>Oncology 2011 Cancer Risk and Genetic Counseling Program data for four <strong>Sutter</strong><strong>Health</strong> affiliates located in Auburn, Roseville, <strong>Sacramento</strong>, and Vallejo.Gregory Graves, M.D.,Medical DirectorJennifer Maher,<strong>Region</strong>al ExecutiveAn integral part of our prevention and screening programs throughout <strong>Sutter</strong> <strong>Health</strong><strong>Sacramento</strong> <strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>Region</strong>, the Cancer Risk and Genetic Counseling Program partnerswith patients to identify and counsel those at risk for familial or hereditary <strong>cancer</strong>syndromes. The goals of the program are to:• Determine the likelihood that the <strong>cancer</strong>s in a family are inherited.• Discuss options for early identification of <strong>cancer</strong> and risk reduction.• Provide information about the benefits, risks, and limitations of genetic testing.• Coordinate genetic testing and to provide accurate interpretation of results.• Make referrals to appropriate research studies.We are proud of the continual efforts made to provide comprehensive care to <strong>cancer</strong>patients, including many advanced and specialized treatments such as blood andmarrow transplantation, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, genetic counseling,stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and complementary medicine. Our centersemphasize state-of-art diagnostic and therapeutic services provided conveniently inour patients’ local communities.Some of our accomplishments in <strong>2012</strong> are:• Performed the first haploidentical transplant• Offered free breast screening events across the region during breast <strong>cancer</strong>awareness month• Introduced high-resolution mobile PET/CT scanner at <strong>Sutter</strong> Solano Medical Center• Installed image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) with Real-Time Position Management(RPM) at <strong>Sutter</strong> Solano Medical Center• Began offering intraoperative radiotherapy using Intrabeam® in <strong>2012</strong>• Sent delegates to the 22nd Annual National Interdisciplinary Breast CenterConference of the National Consortium of Breast Centers, Inc. (NCoBC). KristieBobolis, M.D., served as moderator for the Interesting Cases/Tumor in the plenarysession of this meeting. Sharon Dutton, M.D., presented two talks at the conference:New trends in Radiation Treatment of Early Stage Breast Cancer and LocallyAdvanced Breast Cancer – Controversies in Management. She also served as theradiation oncologist in the interdisciplinary panel discussion.2<strong>Sutter</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sacramento</strong> <strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>Region</strong> Cancer Services
